Have you heard of them yet? They are related to the chinchilla and as such have the most luscious and soft fur. They are quite sociable and will whistle for your attentions, they also purr like a kitten when content. Ours always purrs when he gets scratched around the ears, on the bridge of the nose or under his chin, sometimes he rolls over trying to direct your finger for more caresses. They love to climb and lay in their hammocks. I put a stick across his wire cage and he will roost on that, or hang off it from his front paws and swing a couple times before releasing, he also enjoys climbing the wire on the cage. They do resemble rodents so it took a little while for me to get over that problem I have and finally allow the children to purchase one, the thing is so endearing it wasn't long at all till we became fast friends.
