I have recently "learnt" from one of my "friends" that they would not respond to one or more of my discussions because they were too short and they were losing money because of this! Is this how you feel as for me I am not out to make "big bucks" lol but just enjoy the convos. and responding to people, am I wrong in this? Just another curious moment from me! caramello.

It is not so much as the money but at the same time when you make a short meaningless discussion you just make it more difficult for someone to give a quality response. By making short discussions then the response will more than likely be one dimentional. Thats just my opinion anyway.

Thank-you CallMeDaddy, I am very much open to opinions as I feel like I still may have some more learning to do in here and how things work! I have been plodding along and responding in the best way I can, and trying to make my discussions worth while to get responses, some maybe not as good than others, but this is my way of doing things and I may need to change it a bit (or a lot) lol

Well I was actually going to write something similar to this to be honest, but do remember also that some People are just here to make as much money as they can. I love the Site and it is also nice to earn a bit but if the Discussion is written in a way that I can reply short or not I will reply.

It is a fun site gabs and one can get quite a bit of enjoyment out of it and the money as I said is an added bonus, and how often to we get added bonus's these days, not much for me that is for sure! lol And thank-you for your opinion as it is what I am after.

Hi Caramello. I think if you have a 10 rating then you must be good at your discussions and your replies. I think you have quality discussions. I am not in here for the money at all. I just like the conversations, and looking at different types of opinion.

Hi Ally, my main reason for starting this discussion was to get opinions as to what everyone thought about the money side of things and how big a deal it means to them as I am willing to help others the best way I can. But I do like it in here mainly for the convos. and will try and improve my responses and discussions as I go along as it makes it more interesting. Thank-you for your response.

I look at it as quality is quality in what you have to say, one can put a lot of words into a discussion but that doesn't mean it offers a quality discussion, I have always found your discussions of quality, you are on my notify list so you must be ok....

Thank-you lilaclady for "trusting" me enough to put me on your notify list, you must have some confidence in me! lol If I can improve in any way I am most willing to, as I like a challenge but not too big! lol Thank-you for your response and like to be involved in your discussions as well.

caramello, I am totally confused by the concerns of people who assume that it is the "shortness" of the response or discussion that causes them to lose money and or ratings! I once thought this to be the case as well but after the last few months, mine and some of my "friends" discussions, not short or meaningless either I may add, have not assisted in getting more "money" and one of my "friends" has even dropped in the ratings by "60 points" in the last 3 weeks. I myself as you can see generally reply with a lot to say, lol so for me as I said, it becomes rather puzzling but remains humerous!lol

It does get slightly confusing Eagle being my reason for beginning this discussion as I was not really aware that some did not want to be involved in some of my discussions because they would lose money! Glad you have a good sense of humour and treat it all rather well. You are known for your lengthy responses so maybe I could learn something from you! lol Thank-you for your response and keep up the good work! lol

I wouldn't worry about what one person said to you, Caramello. For one thing, your discussions are not short and meaningless- they are always fun and get a lot of responses. I don't think that we lose money unless the conversation is deleted, which yours haven't been. If that's her opinion, then she's entitled to it. You have a high rating and you're a lot of fun around here. So just keep on entertaining and having fun!

Why thank-you lauriefnp I am pleased to hear that my discussions are not meaningless, at least not all of them anyway! lol Yes everyone is entitled to their opinion and I am always willing to accept them, but in this case my curiousity once again got the better of me! Must be a "blonde thing" even if now it is more fake than blonde! lol But thank-you for your kind words and always nice to get a response from you!

thomson to me it is not about making the money but to get to know people from outside of Australia as well as within, and as money is involved well that is an added bonus on my part. I have been able to learn some different things in here eg. certain names for foods etc. and also some very interesting sites that a nice lady keeps sharing, lol (she knoews who she is) but if there is more to it that I need to understand, then I am willing to give it my best and learn along the way. Thank-you for your response.

I respond to the discussions that interest me or my friends that I ave a comment on, if I have nothing to say I won't reply. I do not judge the discussion or the reply on the amount of word or lines, only on it's content. I am only here forthe fun of it too, which is the way I feel it should be. Have a fun day, hugs.

This just to prove that we cannot keep or make everyone in this world happy caramello, because one of my now "former friends" complained that my discussions were too long and so they couldn't respond to them, because it took too much time to read. LOL However from my understanding of the situation it is the quality of the discussions and responses that counts, not how long it is. If you can put forward your point in 2 or 3 lines, then that is okay. From there the people who respond to your discussions should be able to add their piece and still make a good quality response. I cannot recall that you have ever started a discussion that I have not been able to understand. Of course your friend might just not want to respond to your discussions at all, which is his/her loss rather than yours. Certainly some people are here for the money rather than the conversations they can have, what they can learn etc but it does seem to me that you have been offered a rather poor excuse. It is the quality of his/her response that earns them the money, and in any event if the friend cannot respond and add to the discussion, they they should not make any response at all. Those are the rules. Personally I think that the earnings formula is a closely guarded secret, so anything we think might contribute or detract from our earnings is just guessing rather than actual knowledge. Don't get me wrong, the fact that we do not know how the earnings are calculated is not a bad thing because at least it stops those who might try to find a way around it in an attempt to cheat to make the most money (big bucks as you would say) for the least amount of work. Just keep doing what you have been doing in the past caramello, your rating indicates that you are doing very well and you do get responses to all of your discussions. Ignore this person, whoever they are, because they are the loser in this situation if they feel they cannot respond to your discussions. :) PS See you have changed the avatar back again, and luckily I recognised it this time around.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I think it's possible to put up a great discussion with just a couple of lines. I'd much rather see this that see 10 lines of someone rambling. A short discussion does not put me off of responding.

ossie your discussions are long but meaningful and when reading them at least they make sense even after having drunk 2 or 3 cuppas just reading them! lol I have tried to do the same and make my responses even the opening of my discussions longer, but when reading them back before posting I cringe and decide that is not one of my talents (the gift of the gab) lol so I delete most of it and what you see is it! But doing the best we can is what really matters I suppose and if all good comes out of it, then a slight pat on the back is what results (even if we have to give it to ourselves) lol

shaz there does seem to be a limit to what can be said in some discussions even some long ones unless you can relate to them and I feel most of them are worthwhile and if you can give an input well why not! Thank-you for your response.

I don't know about any of your discussions being too short. I thought it was the response that had to be a reasonable length. It is not as though you ask "what is you favourite colour" I don't have a problem with your discussions and as you have a ten, I don't think many others have either. You go girl.

Yes this is right as I did lose money due to this reason, and if the discussion is at least 5 lines or nearly that then of course I can respond to their discussions as some people they only submit 1-2 lines and therefore it is not giving other people anything to respond to really. I am not receving big bucks for this either but I like to respond relatively.

Unfortunately I have lost money and points on discussions I have responded to in the past, and find it difficult to understand as I have not had any of my discussions deleted by myLot. I personally post into friends discussions to communicate and the money aspect is secondary. Thank-you for responding to this discussion.

It is mainly about whether you can relate to a discussion and whether you can put a good input into it and you are quite right in saying you do not respond if you don't have anything to say, very well said and thank-you for your response.

I try to respond to posts no matter how long or short they are because for me, if I can add something to the discussion I will. I didn't realize that by responding to shorter posts that we were losing money. I thought we earned based on the quality of our answers to the discussions as well as the discussions we write. As for me, I'm not bothered about what I earn. I've been here 5 days and I'm having plenty of fun and making new friends along the way. All I want to do is make it to 500 posts and I'll be happy lol.

Nice to hear that you are having fun and making new friends as I think that is the best part about being in here and just enjoying what you are doing. But I must say we do get to learn more and more as we go along and that is not a bad thing just more of a challenge. And well done on making over 500 posts and now we know you are happy! lol

I cant imagine why anyone would think they are going to make big bucks posting in a forum. The pay rate at the McDonalds drive through is better. The pay is just a little bonus for me here. I enjoy the posts and discussions.

If no one responds to our discussions it does affect us all, as we like have a good thread of thoughts and ideas that we can comment back on. that is the idea behind mylot and some good friends are made here with people having similar interests and topics to write on. We do get paid for doing this but my main aim here on mylot is to make friends in the community and enjoying reading about other peoples lives around the world.

I KNOW what you mean! I gave up making money. I was spending like forever doing 30 comments for a few days. It paid off. I got $1.02 one day for 32 comments. Then I did 32 next day and I got $.52 HALF the amount. Now I dont stress. 20 comments or a little less (today) is fine. I make what I make. I dont want to spend my life on here. I only do this cause I have no job. When I get one, I will come but not as often or not as much. Its to have fun, kill time and do it cause I got no other income coming in :))
