Do you have a mean boss or one that is overly controling? What do you do with such a person and still keep your job intact? I mean they can be so degrading and make you feel worthless. I consider it abuse and yet they don't get into trouble for it. If it were a spouse or a parent they would be in serious trouble. What do you think?

Wow, a toxic boss. No need for that person. Self worth is not from outside it is supposed to be from inside. They make themselves look bad when they act so nasty. There is a way to get them in trouble however you must weigh the worth of that. It is definitely time for a new job. It is not a bad thing to interview and mention that you are looking for a more positive environment in which to work. Your resume must speak for itself and be ready to rebuke what the nasty boss may say. If necessary, the interviewer may see why you are leaving. Just my thoughts, I hope you and and yours do not have this situation.

My boss isn't like that, i am on maternaty leave, and everytime she sees me she practically begs me to come back lol. I only work in retail though. when i worked in a factory the supervisors were mean but mostly just to all the men. The girls were well taken care of. isn't that sexist ?! I didn't mind of course being a girl. hehe.

i used to have a boss with the mind of a four year-old. i haven't encountered one who is overly controlling, as you put it. it would have been very demotivating to be in such a working environment. i like my current boss because she can bring out the best in me.

When I worked I used to work for a semi-government place and I had worked there for long I had actually been there longer than some of the bosses, with a couple of bosses whom I think descriminated or were extra mean to some newys at the job, I had on a couple of occasions went higher and because I had right and fairness on my side I won every time...no one should look down on any one and treat them bad....fair is fair....

If it is not for what I envisioned for myself, I would not have been able to persevere so long in my job. Anyway, by next month end, I'd be quiting my job. I have learned to make enough from the online businesses I own to survive. Now I am in a transitional phase to working from home.

I had a crazy, raciest woman. When she was the assistant to the previous boss I think she was told not to talk to me, but when she was selected to be the unit supervisor, I started working on my retirement. I was under her for 1 month & called into her office 3 times - actually that was BEFORE I turned in my notification of retirement so that was in 2 weeks. When I left I named her in the "exit interview" as to why I left and what she had been & done and how no one should have to work in that environment.
