I do but only for a short while and I always sit with him to explain things to him so it's not just him interacting with the TV but with me as well.

Just curious, if I did want to pick one up, which one would you recommend? I didn't realize how many there were but it looks like there are about 20 different DVD's to pick from and there are more coming out all the time! The one with animals looked good (World Animals, or something like that), but I also liked the art one (Baby Davinci, I think) and a couple others looked good as well. Which one do you and your son like to watch best?

It really depends on what your child likes. Mine is really big into cars, trains, planes and such so I got him On The Go and he really liked that. He also liked the ones with animals. I also got him the ones where they teach sign language and I use that to teach him some signs. He's 2 now and he's moved on to Little Einstein.

My son is a year old and doesn't normally sit still long enough to watch much tv. These DVD's are somewhat educational but I think there are a lot of better ways to teach children about the world. If your baby will be entertained by these and you get a break I say go for it. Some parents focus so much on what is good or bad for their child and completely forget about themselves. A happy parent equals a happy child.

He did for a short bit, like 5 minutes if I needed to wash dishes or something, I was alone at the time, dh was gone to sea so I needed the help. But the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no television under the age of 2.

I don't. I've heard that kids under the age of 2 shouldn't watch TV or anything because it can impair their brain development. So instead, I'll sit down with her and a book, or put on a CD or something else.

My oldest son watched them a lot, when he was younger. I always spoke Danish to him, so it was a good way for him to learn the English vocabulary. My youngest son has never really watched tv, but now that he is 13 months, he seems to begin to catch an interest in what is going on. I therefore just started to play a few of the Baby Einstein DVDs for him this week, and he is loving them. My oldest son also watches the DVDs with his younger brother, and he seems to be just as fascinated with them, as when he was a baby. Now we say out the words together, and I hope my youngest will start catching on. I really love these Baby Einstein movies, and I love them even more now that they have entered the Danish market. It is like getting one in two, when I buy one in Denmark, because I can switch between Danish and English. (They come in so many languages now, and with the dvds it is so easy). My oldest son usually decides which language he wants to watch them in, and it really changes from day to day.

Yeah, I think it's pretty cool that you can switch between languages. Here is the US I think you can choose whether you want the DVD to play in English, Spanish, or French, which is a wonderful way to introduce children to new languages and switch things up a bit. Which ones do your sons enjoy the most? I know there are many to choose from so I'm just trying to see which ones kids and parents like best before I run out and buy one.

Yes I do but I schedule it twice or thrice a week and make sure that I am there when she's watching. I;d like to go along and teach her too. This enables us to bond more. It's said that a child's first teacher is her mother and I live by that principle. Regarding the ADHD research, I'm not really bothered at all. I make sure that she watches these videos with me. No offense to those who do. I just feel that It's important that TV be a shown to a young child as a learning tool and not something to pass time with. I'm not the type of mom who would leave my kid in front of the TV to get some free time for myself. I would rather let her play with her toys nearby if I need a little free time.
