Seller offers $$ for good feedback!

Well, I won the bid on an item (lucky me, 99 cents) plus shipping. And the seller wanted a check or money order, not paypal. I sent a money order and afew days later I got an email from the seller. He stated he had tried to reach me a few times and wanted to send me a payment for a few dollars-under $10 for me to just give him good feedback. I questioned him. He replied and said he got my moneyorder and he was losing money on postage and all so he wanted to send me money and me not get the item. Well, I want the item. If I did not want it I would not bid! Yeah, he may be losing on the item but not the shipping like he stated. I paid enough for that to be mailed and then some. My husband says just let him keep his stuff. For two days he has said he will mail tomorrow. I just checked my email and he has sent me his phone number. I don't think I am wrong, If you want a certain amount of $ shouldn't you place a reserve? What do you think?

I would complain directly to eBay. I'm sure this is a violation of their rules. They will investigate the claims you make and then decide on a course of action. Do make sure you tell them exactly what the seller said to you, and if you still have the emails from the seller, send those on to eBay when you make your complaint. Offering $10 for you to give good feedback instead of the item you want is a low way of doing business. If he can afford to send you $10 then he can afford to ship the item. Simple as that. I do hope you get this sorted soon.

I do have the emails from him. Did not hear from him today. It is just so annoying that he even asked this cause yes, I want the item.

I definitely think he should have had a reserve amount if he didn't want to sell his item(s) for .99, and I think that you should tell him that you want your items or you will turn him into e-bay and write all about it on the feedback! that's not fair of him to try to take back his offer.

So if I am reading that right this is how it is? You sent a money order. He wants to keep the item and just send you back a few dollars because he is losing money on the shipping? If your eally wanted the item you should call and tell him that. It is his fault for not charging enough for shipping. I have had that happen to me as a seller. i charge the flat rate. If it's not enough, that's my fault and I hope I made money on the item to cover the extra. If it is way over I will sometimes send a refund.

Well he stated he is losing money on the shipping. I got a package last week from an item I won and it has got to weigh more than this one. I paid X amount and yes, I paid more than the actual cost of shipping that is fine. So I do not think he is losing money on the shipping. I got the item for .99cents I think he is unhappy about that. The 5.99 (for shipping) I am paying does cover shipping of this item. But he has told me two times he had the stuff ready to mail. Then he request the exchange of money for good feedback. I want the item!

Don't call the person. It is bad enough that he is giving you the run around and trying to buy your feedback, both of which are actions against ebay rules. I would go straight to filing a comlaint. You can use the dispute console to explain that he is not mailing the item and that he tried to get you to give up the item that you paid for. Ebay will contact him and allow him to give his side of the story, but basically he will need to mail the item to you or return all of your money. Either way I think eBay needs to know about this type of behavior. eBay will be on your side, you paid and you deserve to get the item you paid for, period. Godd Luck

Yes, he should have set a reserve price on it. Besides, I am sure he put the postage up higher than it really costs. There is also the possibility that he sells alot of items, some alot higher than what they are worth-so he is making money. It is not your problem or fault that he is "loosing money". I would contact him and tell him that you fairly won the item and you want it. Then when you get it--give negative feedback. I would NEVER buy from him again. Maybe even report him to ebay.

I know the postage is higher than it should be and yes, I had not thought of it but he has more than likley sold stuff and made money. I have a business and we make money and sometimes we do something and do not earn money on it and even lose money. That is business!

I think that if you bid on something that it is yours and that if the seller did not want to sell this item than he should not have placed it up for bidding. I think that you shold demand your item from him and if he does not comply then you must speak to whoever it is he was under whether ebay or something else. As if he does not want to play by the rules than you must inform admin to get him kicked off the site that you were bidding on!

He should have placed a reserve. He is obligated to sell to you. You can't "force" him to sell though. You can file a Non-Performing Seller complaint with Ebay. They can only get a few of those before they are kicked off. I would tell him you will file the NPS if he doesn't send you the tracking number to the item. It's technically mail fraud if he doesn't either send the item or send your money back.

What a jerk you are dealing with. I am an eBay seller and no matter what he should be sending you the item. He has already admitted he got it so what you need to do is go to My eBay and report the item not received. You don't need to talk to the Seller, good grief, you just need your item you paid for. Be done with him, get your stuff and move on. Although I would never buy from such a seller again. That is soooo wrong. Refuse his money for good feedback. Feedback is earned not bought.

The reserve amount is there for a reason, and he should have used it. You won the bid, did your part and sent the payment, now he should send your item. I would report it to ebay if he doesn't send your item. To me, that is a chance you take when putting something up for auction.

Report him to eBay for feedback extortion and also as a non-performing seller. eBay will have him removed pretty swiftly.

I agree with recycledgoth, ebay is making an effort to maintain a good open market for us all to buy and sell a wide variety of things to a huge immediate marketplace. Why put up with scammers, and its true that if you threaten bad feedback ,you'll be the recipeint of bad feedback. Overall. some is probably unavoidable, but don't court it.

That's illegal against the ebay terms and conditions. I'd report him for doing it. You can't bribe someone for feedback and you can't keep the goods once you have sold them. You won the item - the seller cannot change their mind half way through. By the sounds of it, he won't ship you the item but wait for you to lodge the item not received dispute ... that way he can legally credit you the money and keep the item. Unfortunately a lot of 99c sellers are doing this and if you don't report them, they don't get a strike and they keep on doing it to other customers!! If the buyer wanted a certain amount for an item he was better off starting the auction at that price! Reserve auctions are just another way of eBay to take fees of you when you can just avoid it all together. Also they should have confirmed the postage before sending you an invoice for the item ... it's not your fault if they are slack and don't do so. I'd suggest you head on over to the eBay forums [under help] and ask there on what is the best course of action for you to do. I find that it is always very helpful and you will get an answer quickly and probably find a lot of users who have been in the same boat that you've found yourself in. Good luck!!

Not a problem! I hate to see people get ripped off from eBay but it seems to be a too common occurance. I hope you get your item or at least your money back! Oh yeah - i meant to mention it before - make sure you keep an eye on this buyers "new" auctions. Sometimes you'll find that an item you have brought has been relisted so they can make more money. Then they'll say it's been damaged or lost in the post etc and refund your cash ... while someone else has had to pay more and has the original item.

The seller is responsible for his listing, and if it isn't sent within 24 hours, I would be contacting e-Bay and letting them know what he is doing. I sell on e-Bay and the odd time I've been disappointed with the bids not going higher, but that is not the buyer's problem.

I guess I would be dissapointed to if I want the thing, but everybody can make a mistake so I'd give him a break and accept the money.

after the second email, that is what my hubby said, but if you read these responses you will see that for those that buy and sell I would not be doing Ebay justice. He is not a new seller and this may not be his first offer..Cause my bought feedback would mislead others and he could keep this up. So no, I am not goin to just take his money.

tell the seller "tough tities!" he listed the item and has sold it, you have done the right thing and paid for it so why shouldnt you receive the item, its not your fault no one else bid on it or that he didnt put a decent starting price on the item, give him a time limit to send item and if he doesnt file a complaint to ebay, dont let him pay you out for positive feedback, as stated before its earnt NOT BOUGHT, after this stunt i would even consider given positive feedback, neutral feed back at best. its his stuff up not yours so why should you suffer :)

I think thats crap and you deff need to report his happy bum to Ebay immediately! he cant do that..if he wanted a certain amount for an item..all he had to do was stae a starting bid..and if he was afraid to lose on shipping then he should had wrote in a flat rate shipping..he is cheating you..and i would keep calling him and houding him foe the item as well..I camt stand peole on Ebay like that..And make sure you give him negative feedback if you get your item or not and let everyone know what kind of creep he is..im sorry you are going threw this and i hope u get it soon..

Politely DEMAND your item. Send a well worded email stating that you want the item that you paid for, and if he does not provide proof of delivery by a certian date, that you will contact eBay, file a complaint and leave scathing negative feedback. He is OBLIGATED to send the item for the price the auction ended at. Remind him that posting an item for auction is a legally binding contract and he must comply. Good luck!

This person is just crazy, why would you bid on an item if you really did not want it. If all he wants is feedback he can go about getting it on his own by making purchases or something. I would tell him that you want the item that you paid for and if he does not send it then you will have to leave him bad feedback and turn him into ebay. I don't understand some people at all. It is people like this that makes the rest of us sound bad. He is the one in the wrong here as he should of never listed the item if he did not think that he would make any money off of it. Don't forget to file a complaint with ebay if he does not send your item. Good luck on this.

I think the problem is with the seller, if he cannot keep up with the deal, then why is he still making contacts wanting you to place a positive feedback on him.
