making money with a website

I have heard several pp say they make money with there website and i was just wondering what are some of the the things you use or do and how do you promote your site to do it I have recently started my own website I have several banners on there feel free to check them out and was just wondering from anyone with experince what else can I do Thanks

I have a site that discussed online money making http://extramoneyonline3.blogspot.com. I promote my sites in every possible way I can except that I don't spend a penny doing that. I submitted my blog to different blog directories to get more traffic.
