I've got AVG antivirus too and it has protected my PC really well. About anti-spyware, i'm looking for the best anti-spyware too. I've tried a few anti-spywares and looking to try more and find the best one. For your PC, i'd recommend deleting your internet cookies and temporary files, then scan using anti-spyware, that should solve the problem.

Zone alarm suite is a good antivirus and spyware program but if you want to do a free scan without downloading, go to trendmicro.com. it will scan your computer for viruses and spyware for free.

spyware blaster, spybot search and destroy all are free and very effective, but not live monitoring.

I'm satisfied with Spybot Search & Destroy. When I need a deeper scan I use Hijackthis

I've gone with PCSafetyPlus for over a year now. It is live monitoring and so far it seems to be catching all the little nasty things that try to sneak in. Check it out. It's about $9.+ a month or you can do yearly plans.

Remember, an anti-virus can help you to avoid to get infected... once you get the infection you need to remove it yourself using mostly HijackThis and KillBox.
