I'm not the worlds best cook, but I can cook reasonably without burning everything (most of the time)! But have you ever noticed even something as simple as a sandwhich always seems to taste better when someone else has made it!? Does anyone else find this? Or are you a perfectionist and like things a specific way?

I find that meals are always nicer if they are cooked for you. However I find the exception to this to be restaurants. Because I'm a vegan I find restaurants find it very hard to cater for me and most of the time I could cook something better myself at home than they cook for me.

That's terrible. Maybe you should go into business and set up a vegetarian only restaurant!

Why does it taste better? Hmmm, you know i follow the same family recipies that my mom does. We use the same ingredients.. yet hers will always taste better.. Experence is a factor. That and its so nice NOT to have to cook and let someone else do that work. You just get the benifits :)

I'm not a perfectionist either. I enjoy when someone else prepares food for me, because it shows that they care to do something nice for me. I love to eat dinner out because I feel like a princess being waited on. I think when we are preparing the food, we are sampling as we go and therefore when we sit to eat the dish, we are already partially filled up and tired from the preparation work. When someone else does all the work, we can just sit and savor the taste and the moment.

Yes with a big meal I tend to find by the time it is cooked I really don't fancy it anymore.

LOL - yes! I know it sounds strange, but you are right! I love it when somebody else cooks, or prepares food for me - it is almost a way of being pampered, and looked after, and most people like that don't they? So I guess that is part of the reason it always tastes better!

I don't know the answer to your question but a Subway sandwich always tastes better to me than the ones I try my best to duplicate at home! I love other people's cooking more than my own, too. I think it has something to do with how tired I usually am when I'm done making a meal. I don't think I have the energy to enjoy it as much as members in my family sometimes. I'm never a perfectionist when it comes to cooking. Sometimes the little mistakes or the forgotten ingredients can change a dish into something else that's a little different but sometimes even better than what I was planning to make.

No I don't find that sandwiches tast better when someone else fixes it. Some people just through it together any kind of way with no imagination. But my eldest daughter is a practicing gourmet and I just love her sandwhiches anytime.

Oh I agree for many things that this is the case. Why I don't know. There are a few things I like how I cook best so those things I will not let someone else make but those are few and far between. I love it when someone else cooks or makes my meal. It's a very nice change actually.

No I agree with you. I think as women (for the most part) that have to cook meals day in and day out we can certainly appreciate when someone else does it for us. I think cause we know the effort that it takes to prepare a meal, one that everyone likes and one that is different and not the same old thing. So yup I can agree with you on this one for sure.

This is so true! I swear anything my mom makes is perfect from sandwhiches to full blown out dinners. I get compliments on my food but it never tastes as good as if someone else made it. I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to food. For awhile I would never make pancakes because I could never get them perfectly round. I finally gave up and started making them. Another thing that drives me nuts is meatballs. I can never get those perfectly round either so I refuse to make them on my own.

I feel that's because,we sometimes get bored of eating the same thing made in the same way,the preparation.someone else would have some thing else to add or subtract from it.Other thing is the ease and convenience ,we dont have to do anything ,just grab and eat.
