Are you a gamer?

I mean a role playing gamer. I don't, but I know a lot of them, even a guy who owns a RPG company. Games have evolved beyond the dice. Are you one of the live action gamers? I had a friend that was in a couple of them for a while, until the politics, or people moving, broke up the groups she was in. She also did a semi-live action "Buffy" game for a while. I'm not sure exactly what kind of game she's doing anymore - since we're not seeing as much of her as we used to - her schedule doesn't allow for easy compatablity since she's on graveyard at her job now. I think I might get into a live action game, but I just don't know, between my ill health & not liking the restrictions of playing the "die." I knew a guy that almost always played a female role - wierd - but since the only game I ever played (a test play of WWIII by SJG) I played a male I probably shouldn't talk - they were surprised, I've kind of noticed that most gals perfer being females. So, if you game, what games/systems do you play? Oh, are you a SCA person? Are you able to take a charecter from one game to the next? What is your fav game? Have you ever been a DM (GM)? Think you can talk me into playing?

I have never been big on role playing.I don't think anything wrong with it but for me,I always have to be me and not pretend to be someone else. I even used to have problems at Halloween picking out costumes cause aI felt weird about pretending to be someone else.

As much as this response will expose me as the geek I am, lol, I am a gamer. I am currently involved in a ADND campaign with a few friends. It's a table-top game, using dice. I have also played: white-wolf (were-wolf and vampire), and cyber punk. I've tried out a marvel game, with cards. And, I've done the live action as well. I think cyberpunk, table top version, is probably my favorite. I don't think I'd make a very DM/GM, but I have considered giving it a go on ocassion. I don't know if I could talk you into it, lol. But, it is a lot of fun, and a great social activity to participate in with friends. :)

I know my gaming friends love playing. I just have trouble with the idea, I guess. And I actually know Steve Jackson of Steve Jackson Games (GURPs). A bunch of us in the old Doctor Who club tried to get together to build characters for a DW game, but something came up - I think the GM was as new to the game as the rest of us. I think a few dedicated gamers figured it out, but I wasn't among them.

I haven't ever done role playing in the sense of purely text and imagination. The closest I could say I've been to that is in one of those avatar doll rooms that preteens and little girls like! Now it's been years since I went to one of those! In any case, My husband has been an RPG'ER! I think it sounds pretty interesting. I enjoy playing role playing games on consoles, but I don't know if that's a completely different terminology or not. I think that if you like to "pretend" an rpg is for you, but if you don't then maybe it not. However, I also think it's nothing that shouldn't be tried once! I plan to with my husband and a friend of ours but we haven't gotten a chance, especially now that we're down to one computer.
