How can we know the location of certain IP Address?

Is there a command we can use to trace where is the location of IP Address? Or a program or even a software? Can we know the exact location of the computer?

hey there raredog, There are several internet site that provides tools for tracing locating an IP address. You cannot pinpoint the exact location of the PC using the IP address, First, All internet providers and telcos (Telecommunications Company) protects the privacy of their clients, second most users use IP address dynamically, once they logged off from their Internet connection, the IP address they are using will be released, once they reconnect another set of IP address will be assigned to them. Very few users used static IP addresses. BTW, tracing an IP address using utilities will give you the nearest city/country where those IP addresses are assigned. Hope this helps

Glad you pick my discussion as your first. I appreciate your answer here, actually it's answers coz you post it twice. lol. Anyway tnx for the info, but what I'm looking for actually is the software itself or a link perhaps that will do the job.

happened to have the one you're looking for but it only gives you the city or the country not the exact location of the computer. maybe near the window at the second floor......nyehehehehe

Hey I know what you are saying! Have you watch the movie "Enemy of the State" starring Will Smith? They can pinpoint anywhere in the city whereever you are. It's cool! They are using the satellite for that.
