HavenĀ“t your kids brought you home a little bird that had a broken wing, or a little mouse that seemed a little sick? Or have you done that yourself when you were a kid? If you child was to bring a bird home, would you allow him to keep it until it had recovered, or would you have him to bring it to the vet? When I was a kid, we use to pick up those little things and my mum would let us keep them until they would be able to go out again... I guess I will do the same with my own children, what about you?

We found a little bird one time (my hubby and I) and it had been electrocuted by power lines somehow, and it's little wing was broken, so we took it to a vet, and they took care of it. when I was a kid, we found a very friendly racoon, and our parents allowed us to keep it for awhile, until it started to get aggressive, then we took it out to the woods. (althouh, in hindsite, he problably was too domesticated by that time to really survive on his own.) I think we'll do the same with our kids, if we feel we can help the animal, otherwise we'll take the animal to the vet.
