Good morning every one.I would like to hear from you people that have small pets, I would dearly love to have a cat or small dog, but it is the fear that if something goes wrong with the poor wee animal I would not be in a position to take it to the Vet. I know all the rest of my family have dogs and cats and it seems every time I talk to them the animal is off to the vet for one reason or the other, We were raised to care for our pets and to attend to their needs immediately. Because I live on a very restricted budget I do not feel it would be right to have a pet in case some thing should go wrong. Please give me your thought on this subject. Thank you

Well I agree with one thing if you have a pet you need to look after it and I also know what it's like to loose a pet, it's no easy walk in the park. I have asthma and cats are out of the question. I have been able to have poodles, but they are a lot of work and hair cuts are a price, so I've done my own, be as it may !?! I now have a maltese dog and let me tell you this, if you ever had one you'd always have one. They are smart, loyal, cuddly and low maintenance. We want our dog to have long hair because they have a silk coat that is nothing less than georgous, so she gets brushed almost every day. As far as food we buy the best however very cheap to feed, how much does it eat being only 4 pounds. Yes we get shots but that's only once a year. When I think about a budget I doubt anyone could live on any less than we do but it's like having a child you always find something to feed it. This dog has brought us thousands of dollars worth of love, laughs and something to look foward to every morning. I do not recommednd this breed to people with very young children because kids can tend to be rough and these dogs are lap dogs. If you still feel like you absolutely can't afford a pet than you're just being responsible and I respect you for that. But I know I couldn't be without my maltese. That dog is our child living at home NO KIDDING !!! We don't smoke we don't drink or go out, no need to we have our puppy. The bad news is they are very expensive to buy. My husband used his whole income tax return cheque to buy this one. I'd love to know what they sell for in the US.

I do so understand about the dog bing the child living at home. We had a beautiful Yorke, who's name was Mindy, there is agood story if you will bear with me My son was in grade 11, we had just moved again for the 15 or so time, any how at the school my son was called into the school councilors office, and the councilor said tell me about your self Scott. So my son says, I eat all my meals in a restaurant, My dad is in the bar day and night, My mom is at a mental institute, I have one sister who is a brat, but she is normal and I have a sister that is deformed, and has a very bad speech impediment. OK said the councilor do you mind if I speak with your parents as I have some concerns. OK but you will have to call him at the bar this is the number. My ex husband gets a phone call. are You Scott's father, yes he said Well I have some concerns about your son. Well said hubby I am in the bar come out and talk to me.( My son informed this guy acted like there was a book in the making if not the movie) So the guy goes out to the hotel and asks for Don, thats me I and the bank own this place. OH, where is Mrsk she is at The regional care center cooking as the bar isn't paying very well. Well what is this about Scott having to eat in a restaurant every day(my son had a severe weight problem) well he is to young to eat in the bar so he and his sister eat in our restraint every day, he is an excellent cook you know. OH speaking of sisters I understand he has a sister that is very badly deformed and has a speech impediment, Oh yes said hubby that is Mindy I have to tie her up in the back yard or she eats garbage and craps all over th rugs, you want to meet her, Huh yes he said so Don goes to the side door and Yells Mindy get in here time to perform, and in through the door trots Mindy our Yorkie, with her brindle hair and red hair on the belly looks very similar to my ex husband with his gray hair and red beard.I always said to the kids this is you sister treat her kindly. OK thank you very much sir I understand now. Scott was making up stories, No said Don he told the truth you just drew the wrong conclusions. This is a true story, no kidding,
