Just trying to get an idea here. What is the average amount you've been paid for an article? How often do you submit articles and how much have you been paid overall?

The payments vary based on your writing, but I would say my average is about $10 per article. I try to write 1 article per day and submit it into the queue. There is a lot of great advice on the site about increasing your payments and writing better articles. Clcik on the Community tab at the top then either read through the AC 101 or go to their forums to talk with other writers. Good luck!

Great advice! Thanks so much! Love the idea of trying to write an article a day. I think I have time for that too. I've had my hands in so many things lately that aren't paying off. I'm not considering refocusing my attentions all in one spot, that spot being AC. Maybe give it a month and see how it goes. Thanks for your feedback!

I write an article every couple of days and i average about 8 bucks, but i also don't usually sell the exclusive rights so i suppose i could get more really.

It's good to know you can make $8 while still retaining the rights to your article. Thanks for sharing your experience with AC. This is something I'd really wondered about. Haven't decided to go exclusive or non as of yet.

I average about $7, but I think that figure will go down over time because they have recently reconfigured how much they will pay people and my individual article rate seems to have decreased. The best thing to do is to target guaranteed payments, for example right now they are offering $10 for How-to articles until the end of the month. They still need to be well written, but you can make more than just submitting something randomly. I don't write that often, but I am trying to increase my articles to one every other day. I know a lot of folks will submit multiple articles per day, but I am trying for quality. I don't want to just write about any old thing. People find what you have written on the Internet, and it can follow you around for a long time. Look at how employers are now viewing people's pages on MySpace.

Good points. Quality should come first, I agree with you. Especially since your name is tied to the article. It's a reflection of your skills and dedication as a writer. Does AC have an overall rating for their writers? If so, is it based solely on AC's opinion of your writing, or is it also a reflection of how others view your writing and your article's popularity?

I just started and have only received 8$. A lot of people crank out articles quickly but do not edit them properly. A good article does take a little time. Now if you get better and better, then by almeans be a submitting machine. I just hate having to write exclusively only for so little money. The thing is I am a single mom and don't have a job...so I will sell exclusively for the most pay. When I do get work outside the home, I will go back to non-exclusive so that I can reprint elsewhere....
