Actually, pomeranians were originally a larger breed of dog, but the smaller toy poms became so popular that it outnumbered the larger pomeranians. Pomeranians were originally 20-30 pounds and much taller until Queen Victoria found a smaller 12 pound pom. Until recently afterwards, the pomeranian was recognized as a toy breed. But that doesn't shatter the existance of the larger poms. They are still out there, just very rare.

I have one that is only about 4 to 5 pounds (our female) but our male is about the same size as yours - he is around 2 years old though. Sometimes the size from the original breed (before they were bred to be small or toy dogs) shows back up in the current generation. They are still full blood, and even registered. It is just a throw-back to the older generations when the dogs were larger.

Hahaha! She is quite big.Mine weighs 4.5 lbs. She's turning 7 this yr and her color's brown. She's small but very noisy.Try putting your's on a diet while she's still young. You don't want her too fat coz she'll be prone to lots of illnesses.

I bought two poms awhile back, and while their mom and dad were both about 5 pounds, mine are 9 and 10 pounds. I don't know why.
