I'm just wondering how many people out there have had knee replacement surgery, how long you were in the hospital, how long it took to recover, and if you'd consider this surgery again?

Knee replacement surgery...I believe that this is something which the doctors will determine. I haven't undergone through it and I believe that I don't need it at all but, I hope you will consider me butting in despite this. I have known somebody who had opted to undertake the surgery because the knees, he says gives him terrible pains and his doctors had advised him to have knee surgery after having studied the x-rays. It is a permanent one since the kneecaps placed are stainless steel balls, and normally, will last for a lifetime. One who leads a normal life will therefore, have it only once in his lifetime. Stay in the hospital after the surgery will only be a week, but recuperation will take months.

I really don't know too much about how they do the surgery. I was just told I had to go to a surgeon as there was nothing left between the bones in my knees..that it's just bone on bone. At this point in time the pain is so back and the knee keeps locking so I can hardly walk for the pain.

I have knee surgery for a torn menicus. That was not to hard to take. But all they did in my case was put four holes in my knee and fix it by going through the holes. If you are in pain I would definitely do the surgery. I will keep you in my prayers. There is a site to go to that tells all about different medical problems. I am going to contact my sister because I can not remember the name of the site. I will get back to you so you can see exactly what it entails.

Here is the site you can go to find out all about knee replacement surgery. It is a good site for a whole lot of other issues as well. I put the part of the site that deals with the surgery you will have. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/knee-replacement/HQ00977

Hi Crafty, My mother also had hip replacement surgery many years ago, but I don't really remember how long it took her to recover, and I had understood that a lot of the surgery goes much quicker these days. I must admit I am not looking forward to the thought of sugery, but it looks like I don't really have much of a choice, as my knee is so painful and keeps going out on me.
