Should collegiate athletes be paid?

This is a debate that has been raging for long time, but with the money getting much bigger in college sports and the players leaving earlier and forsaking their educations for pro sports, people wonder if these schools should pay their players. Share the wealth with the student athletes. They get scholarships, but there are different restrictions on them. They can hardly affor the time to pick up parttime jobs, and which scholarships take a lot of the strain on their academic costs, the costs of living and providing the basics aren't always included. Tat being said, should they get even a small chuck of the billions of dollars being allocated to bigtime college sports like football and basketball.

They are often given checks each month for groceries and rent. Scholarships pay for most of if not all of their schooling. What more can they want? They get the exposure from being able to play for the school, they get education, and they get preferential treatment in school. What's the problem? They are still students, so playing sports shouldn't be their job.
