Choosing a name, an avatar, selecting a few points of interest for general discussion-all choices. sort of like going to a party- deciding what to wear, what to offer by way of pleasant conversation- trying to be yourself and yet, presenting that self in hopefully an attractive and engaging way-it helps to know something about who else will be at the party.
well in this case about 70,000 people/24/7 forever. A quick glance in the avatar mirror shows me that I'm a funny little character with a smile and a balloon containing an exclamation mark. A bigger glance at the party in progress and it appears I have many many twins- (can one?)
Well I've wandered around a bit, chiming (my 2cents worth) here and there, and acquired a feel for the place, the range of topics(staggering) and a few with whom I felt like getting into a discussion. How nice!
I've installed the toolbar so I can circle back to talks that seemed promising, and now I'm trying to find something representative for an avatar.
I feel a little like a visitor who arrived in Times Square on New Year's Eve without a personal buddy to relate to. A bit overwhelmed.
I came to mylot because I am too isolated, and as a wannabe writer, I feel a need to warm up-to start communicating with others. Way too isolated at this time in my life..,
Are there others of you who are here for the company? Other newcomers who are sorting out what aspects of themselves to share? I'd welcome comments on this.
