I just checked out the page of a short story author, and his piece "Hope and the Elephant" really hit home for me. I also have an ill child that cannot get out and do things as much as she and I would like. Reading the story with has an SF theme, made me wish I were living in the time of the story, even with it's tragic past. If you have time for a quick read, I suggest checking out his site and reading "Hope and the Elephant". His writing style is rather fledgling but very engaging. He has many other short stories there as well. I'm off to read a few more! Check him out here- Http://hamsterrepublic.com/james/writing/ I hope you enjoy the story as much as I did!

This was a very interesting short story. Thanks for pointing this sight out to us. He does have a very simple style of writing. It is also full of emotion. I will be going back there often.

I don't like elephants except that they will remember me if I am nice to them. I don't like short story because of two reasons. If they are not nice, then obviously I don't like them. If they are nice, I hate it when they end so quickly. A short-changed feeling.

Hi there grumpy dwarf! You're everywhere in my email tonight! Thank you for responding to my sad little discussions. I appreciate it:) I would like an elephant to remember me. I wonder if they have an online elephant-human match making service. I don't like short stories either, for the same reason's that you gave. What is the point of developing a great character and story line if you are going to kill it all after a few hundred words? Silly short story writers. It's weird for me to see this post of mine. I put this on here to complete a "hit" (human intelligence task) for mturk. I wonder if the author got his money's worth?

I've decided to write my own story. It's cool. Fantasy genre and I am planning 3 volumes. I am setting the main plots but I am getting caught up writing the ideas for the mini events.
