How come the milk you always got for snack time or lunch in school that came in the cardboard containers is so much better than the milk that comes in the plastic gallons? Maybe its just me but like muller pinehurst chocolate milk! oh so good and its the kind the school always gave us. What milk do you like better and why?

In cardboard containers, the air and light can degrade the quality of the milk. Whereas in the plastic containers air and light gets to the milk, causing it to breakdown and change the taste.

i heard this too, and i can notice the taste in my bagged milk from when i first open it and if its in the fridge overnight or through the day, it seems to taste not as fresh, i always drink LOTs of milk though. i love the stuff always have, my mom used to say it'd be cheaper for her to buy a cow then to keep buying milk for me! lol. silly mom.

Thankfully we don't have bagged milk in the stores yet, but I know they serve it in the schools that way. I am not a cow milk drinker myself. We normally buy soy milk in the cardboard containers.

Here we dont have the cardboard containers anymore, well i think some do, but i rarely see them, alot are in plastic containers, but i usually buy the 3L bags of milk. it just lasts longer, and takes up less space in the fridge. We dont have the same kind of milk you have there, we have nelsons, and pharmalait or something, i always get nelsons, it tastes betteer ;0)

Very intresting question. I guess it's just the fact of how much is chilled? Because if you put a cup, and a bottle in the fridge of milk one tastes different. To me I can taste the difference of foods just by what shape they are, and for liquids it's wierd but the way I drink it makes a difference too. Like why does drinking milk out of a straw seem so much nastier.

Oh, That's why here in the Philippines I dont see milk in plastics. It's either milk in cartons or milk in powder form. We always buy the ones in cartons because although more expensive, it is more convenient.
