Look for a book called "Food and the Gut Reaction"...I can't remember the authors' names, but it did wonders for me. Sure, some of the guidlines and suggestions are strict, and not everything works for everyone, but I'm sure it would have information that would be uselful to you-and when you're desparate, you'll try anything once, right? (I know, I've been there! I have extreme empathy for you.)

I've also heard that the book "Makers Diet" is also quite good. If you go to Yahoo Groups and search for the term Crohns you'll find a number of good discussion lists that you could join. I heard about the makers diet on one of those lists. I can't tolerate much residue / fiber in my diet either. I hope you are taking some vitamin suppliments, if you can tolerate them that is.

Thank you so much for the help. I have had crohns for 25 years and still had to ask about a good low residue diet lol. I did get a book called Eating Right for a Bad Gut. It is by James Scala and it really has helped me figure out some food choices.I do take vit. and minerals. I have had a lot of gut removed so I get b12 shots and I am on methotrexate and humira. both by injections.thanks again Weasel Sponge and dragonden ...pam

I also had 12 feet of my intestines removed, and I also inject B12! (Which I think is common among people who have absorption problems, especially because of intestinal surgery.) I'm sure you have, but have you ever been tested for celiac disease or any other food-related sensitivites/allergies? If you have a list of symptoms (you can email me or "myLot mail" me, as it were), I'll ask my mother about what she would recommend-she has a friend who is a dietician, and she did a LOT of research when I was a teen, as doctors didn't seem to find an answer or want to bother sending me to a specialist-they figured I'd "outgrow" it.

I;m not familiar with a low residue diet but I will look into it. My boyfriend has Chron's and needs to be more careful with what he eats. He is 31 years old now and luckily hasn't had to hav surgery yet, but if he keeps eating badly he will need it sometime, and he has no insurance. :(

I have crohns too and I've been off work for over 10 months because of it.
