I am borrowing the title of this post from Bizziebod, I was trying to think of the proper way to phrase it and couldn't come up with anything better. Every month or so I feel the need to power shop; to leave the house with a set amount of money and not go home until I've spent it. The strange thing is that when I have tons of money I cn never find anything that really strikes my fancy but when I'm dead broke ... everything looks great. Anyone else out there use shopping to relax and unwind? I know I'm not alone ... so come on ... speak up, chime in and post away ...

YES! I don't like to spend money on most occasions, but I have my days where I just go out and shop without a second thought about the ugly word - BUDGET - that usually stops me. I agree that I end up not finding much when I have the money, but when I don't have money I want a ton. Sometimes what happens though is that I end up buying crap I didn't really want just because I wanted to spend money and I end up feeling blah after :( Luckily I'm learning how to stop myself from buying things I don't reallllly want just because I have the cash but sometimes it just has to happen!

Well you have a great excuse to go shopping, you are planning a wedding! Come on, that's one of the best excuses a girlie can have to go out and shop, even if you don't buy anything, it's still therapy.

When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping - LOL. I do find that the best bargains are in the shops when I am skint and have no money to spend though.

I always enjoy going shopping for non-grocery items lol when I have some money to spend! It's fun to just wander and have the money in case you come across something you'd like. I too have found that when I am out looking to spend it is harder to find what I would really like. When I'm short on cash I see more things that I'd like to be able to buy. Do you think it's just cosmic co-incidence or some other psychological syndrome? I prefer to just shop alone if I am wanting to relax & shop. Taking the kids is a sure-fire way to add some stress and cut down on wander time. lol

We are pretty broke most of the time, but I do need a little retail therapy every now and then. Probably more like 3 to 4 times a year than monthly. I did just get some in last week though ... new shoes...mmmm.

I usually go completely crazy once or twice a year and spend three days shopping, then, it's out of my system LOL.

My wife power shops on a weekly basis, so whenever I see something that takes my fancy, I'm broke and can't afford it.

Absolutely not alone lol! Well I went out for my retail therapy yesterday and spent more money on my daughter than I did on myself as I could only find two jumpers and a skirt that I liked! I even said to my friends that they should take me to hospital afterwards as I obviously wasn't well because I didn't buy at least ONE pair of shoes!! I love shopping to relax and unwind, and lets face it, it's a great way of exercising without realising it! I was out walking about for 5 hours!

I went out today but I plan on going out tomorrow (really, it's 5:50 am here so it is technically 'tomorrow LOL) to do some more. There is something about trolling around the mall that makes me smile; especiually when I see sale signs and clearance items!!!

I never do this intentionally, it just sort of... happens, usually when I don't have the extra money to spend, but sometimes I have to do it anyway.

i used to shop a lot when i was feeling down, like the things i buy will act like some kind of a temporary satisfaction to cheer me up. whenever i'm feeling sad i always feel like going for a retail therapy, or itching to buy something! i love to go for a retail therapy whenever there are sales everywhere too! but now i'm trying to cut down my expenses and try to save more, so i have to resist the temptation to shop T_T ..gotta do other things instead;)
