i am just curious how real people, not politicians, real americans feel about the new passport regulations and increased border security along your northern border with canada. i might add that it is the longest unprotected border in the world and that canada is the biggest trade partner of the u.s.a.

I think the new passport thing is only for flying, right? At least that is what I have read. I already have a passport since I went to Spain in 2005. I don't mind it because I always thought that is weird that is all we had to have was a birth certificate to go to Canada and Mexico. It could be easy to forge a birth certificate. I am not so happy that other people will have to pay the fees if they want to go to those countries because it is a little bit of money. Have a nice day and a big plus to you for your topic. Pablo

you are right,it is only for flying. i can't see a couple of snowbirds in their 70's as being much of a terrorist threat. as well as chidren. although i think they changed it for children. maybe someone needs to put some real thought in to security.

It's for flying now, but by next year it will include driving.

i agree that canadas border is very unprotected, having lived in vermont about an hour away from the border, we used to go to a casino in canada and had no problems going in,however coming out the us drilled us quite well,, now living in ohio we love to goto niagra falls and its going to be a hassle to get a passport but i do think we need the aded security.

i wonder if requiring a passport will give us any added security? and niagra falls is definetly worth the visit.

I've never had a problem. I just show my passport and answer a few questions and I'm through in a few minutes.
