A couple of months ago, I moved my blog to WordPress. I've been using Blogger for three years and suddenly I just thought that I hated it already with all its downtimes and everything. At least with wordpress, I can have control over everything. What for you is the best blog program/software? Wordpress? Blogger? LiveJournal? MySpace? What? :D

I prefer Wordpress, is a wonderful tool and since I own a domain it's great to manage everything. With wordpress we've more control and it's easier to modify things. That doesn't happen with blogger, I used to blog with it but since I changed to wordpress my life was simplified.

Wordpress is my choice. I have started toying around with Wordpress a couple of weeks back and have learned to love the software. Today, I have finished porting a fourth website into Wordpress (this sites were previously static sites using plain HTML). As mentioned in other posts, it is best to use Wordpress if you have your own domain name and you host your site (meaning not hosted at Wordpress.org). For ease of installation, I use Fantastico that comes with most Unix/Linux web hosting plans. The beauty of Wordpress lies on its power (very structured PHP + MySQL) and its very big community support (themes, plugins).

Just a simple note to show my gratitute to you for marking my response as best. By the way, I got the chance to have a look at your blog site (miii) and find it to be informative, cute and simply put: it rocks! Thanks.

my webhost also offers fantastico which has automatic installation of wordpress, and that was how i got into it in the first place. I love how it's easy and has a lot of available themes and plugins. about my blog, i try to write down my school notes there because i check on it more than i read my school readings. it also helps the people who know me know what I'm talking about when i spout random stuff.

I still prefer blogger because I'm more comfortable with it. I've tried wordpress, but didnt get used to it. This is just a personal choice and I am aware that blogger has several drawbacks. I've never had too much downtime with blogger though. Maybe I'll try wordpress sometime.

For me it's wordpress. Like you I think it gives you so much more control and with the all the new plugins and widgets etc you can find each day you can really make the design of your blog your own.

I like 360.yahoo better than LiveJournal because I can be more creative with 360. I have seen MySpace, Blogger, etc., and they don't give me the challenge that 360 does. I have made quite a few friends in 360 and none in LiveJournal.

but then wouldn't that be because 360 has pre-set friends already? I mean, your yahoo messenger/address book are kinda there already on 360?

I think Wordpress is the best platform because it allows you the most freedom when it comes to design, plugins etc. It also has the largest collection of free themes and plugins and aa hue development community.

Well I'm still with Blogger. It's too much hassle to switch. It was hassle just upgrading to New Blogger. As for downtimes, I've only noticed one, but I have only been blogging for about 3 months.

I use wordpress too. Having it on my own domain gives me a lot of options. It's great, lots of available widgets, plugins, and themes. It seems to be much more stable too.
