there is a category of items for sale on Ebay that are haunted. Pages of backstory accompany these items'postings- photos and history; with a certain formula that goes like this: I inherited/found/unwillingly"bought a haunted house that contained a secret room where a book of magic was stored with certain bits of jewelry" etc etc, with the disclaimer which goes like "now I myself don't need/understand/ want this ring with a genie in it, brooch with magicakal power, earring that will bring you untold wealth"-and so these items are offered for sale. Haunted dolls, pictures, clothing, etc. Its fun reading. Tugs at my willingness to suspend disbelief. Discussed this method of advertising with a friend- chuckling at the ingenuity. And thenit happened- my roomie is a frequent ebay seller, and got a tray of junk jewelry that had belonged to his late grandmother- to pick through for selling. So I was picking through it, and honest to god found a tiny beaded worry doll that I instantly loved. I was allowed to keep it and stuck it in my pocket. That day three very worrisome problems melted away. I thought- ha the jokes on me. There really are such things as charmed or haunted items. What do you think?

Personally, I don't buy into any of that. I am the type "I have to see it,to belive it" So I belive it is all a bunch of bs. The only reason some of the "haunted" items gets such a high price is because of a good story line. One "haubted" auction grows into many peole all of a sudden having haunted items. It's greed.

Not a fantasy you need, huh? I think you are right- its the story people are actually buying, and I gotta say that stories are sorta like a Harlequin romance- very atmospheric and yummy and predicable. But like I said- there's this doll, I have to add that I would never sell this. Appreciate your comment and of course I agree with you. The sale stories at b***
