I usually go to Uncle Spike's, our second-hand book on the corner, near our office, and pick a bunch of books, based on title, cover and whatever else piques my fancy that specific day. In this month's batch I got 'Lili' (Annie Wang), 'Queen of Dreams' (Chitra Divakaruni) and 'Prodigal Summer' (Barbara Kingsolver). 'Lili' is set in Beijing China. The story starts just before the Tiananmen Square incident and is about Lili's political awakening. 'Queen of Dreams' is set in California and tells the story of an Indian family. I found this book very entertaining. An interesting twist was the 9/11 incident written cleverly into the storyline. 'Prodigal Summer' is set in rural America. The characters in the book evolve in a matter of a summer to the point where they understand themselves and their surroundings better, and in the end comes to terms with their lives. Very different from the 'Poisonwood Bible' but also a very good read from Barbara Kingsolver. So, what have you read lately, and what can you recommend to other readers?

Recently, I've been rereading all my Judith McNaught love books. It does not only bring back memories of me being a teenager, but it also brings back memories of my HS when it used to be so popular to read those books. I also love re reading my Harry Potter collection when the new book is about to come out. I also suggest that you read Mitch Albom's "Tuesdays with Morrie" and "5 People You Meet in Heaven". Both are very touching and quite inspiring.

I like Judith McNaught. I like her newer books too even though some of her die hard fans didn't like them because they weren't historical romance.

Well I just finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and several Terry Pratchett books, I will probably continue on the Pratchett discworld series for a while, or perhaps reread The Lord of the Rings or the Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy. I really enjoyed all the Pratchett books I have read, and the Half Blood Prince was quite good too.

I've read "a long way down" by nick hornby..I liked it,but the best one he has written is "high fidelty" another book I've read lately is "the devil wears prada"; I liked it,it's a romance, alright, but it's not the usual love story.despite the good and original work, they didn't really take a good movie out of it,and it's a shame could have been something good :) finally,I recommend "the hours" by miichael cunningham: a great story, wonderfully written

The coloured patterns of one iris is unique as one fingerprints. This uniqueness can be used to identify people during security check. This happens when the iris is scanned by a computer, which maps and stores a specific pattern. Hence to check a person's identity a new scan of the iris is compared with the stored version.

I am almost done with Thirteen Moons by Charles Frazier. It's very good, maybe even better than Cold Mountain. And that is tough for me to say as I am descended from the same family as the Inman Character in that book. Thirteen Moons is about a man who was adopted by the Cherokee Indians, and his life among them. Like in Cold Mountain, when Frazier talks about the mountains it makes you feel like you are there.

I love books and I would usually buy if I really like the book. I love Paolo Coehlo's books. I just love the way he writes and I can relate about the stuffs he puts in the book like "By the River Piedra...", "Veronica Decides To Die", "The Alchemist". I also love Sidney Sheldon's "Memories of Midnight." It's a story about love, betrayal and vengeance. I love the way the story goes... so many twists...;) And I like reading inspirational books like Young Blood and Chicken Soup.;););) And whenever I get bored or I have nothing to do, I grab a book and stay in my room. Reading is fun. I learn a lot of things from it.;)

I just started reading "Grace For the Moment" by Max Lucado. The book is intended to be a daily devotional for one year, but I've been reading them as devotionals for the moment at random moments through the day. It's been really inspiring.

Right now I am reading "Vanishing Acts" by Jodi Picoult. I just finished her book, "The Tenth Circle" a couple of weeks ago, and went in search of more of her writing. The books are fiction, and very well written. I would recommend them to others. She has a new book coming out soon.

Reading isn't much fun, it's more of a bedside activity. (Something you do before you sleep) I would rather play video games like my inner child.
