i am pretty sure that many mylotians have a large circle of friends here, how do you decide or what do you in particular look before asking or approving some one on mylot as your friend.

I'm still new to mylot and have not made enough friends. In fact, I have not received any invitations yet. On the other hand, I have extended a handful of invites. The criteria I used to select who I want to be part of my list of friends includes the quality of discussions they posted and the responses they make on others' and some similarities in opinions, interests and hobbies that I find in their profile page. Beyond that, I have invited a few who I just liked based on a response they've made on a discussion of mine, or a comment they made somewhere. I guess in the final end, I do not want to make my friends' list to be so huge that I cannot keep up with everyone, but neither do I want it to be to inclusive like some snobby clique. I guess, in the final end, anyone can be a friend. The only exception I would make are those who start senseless discussions and those who are abusive of others. In that case, I draw the line and withdraw the hand of friendship.

yes i do agree that a huge list of friendship is too difficult to handle, so few friends are really good

I'd say that about half of my MyLot friends found me and half I found. I usually accept everybody. For inviting folks, I usually ask them if I think that they have made an interesting remark or end up in the same discussion groups as me (writing, Associated Content are the two I visit most often). I also like to keep in my interests because I can find myself spending hours reading discussions that I don't care about, but if I stick to subjects or people I like, I can learn a lot and really enjoy being on MyLot. I try and go over and visit my friends' discussions when I can, but I don't have the emails sent to me, I'd just be swamped with them.

i find accepting friend requests really troublesome since i get a lot of them. im also bothered by those who want to add you as friend even if you do not have anything in common, and you haven't interacted in mylot before. those two are basically my guidelines in choosing friends here in mylot. i add those that are from the same country- or better yet the same city- as i am. i also accept those whom i have interacted with, whether through a discussion or through private messaging. all others i decline, or i wait till we have interacted somewhere. why am i that strict in accepting friends? because the word "friend" actually means something. it's not just some person who comes across you or something.

I don't look out for particular aspects before accepting friends request, but usually I go through their profile. Esp. when I feel that the one is placing nice discussions. And I send friends request to those; whose discussion I like.

I seldom add someone as my friend, but mostly they requested me. But some friend that I request usually have high posting number to help me boost my posting number too.

I have an entire process for that (lol) :first i look at the profile...see what interests he/she has..then what's their (home)country...then i take i look (just a little one :P) at their discussions...if i find their answer to "stiffy" or cold, with no humor what so ever included,i don't aprove anything. And then i ask them about their switzerland accounts(number, passwords, safe codes)hehe. If they answer honestly:i am a cancerian...i approve :)) PS.i was jocking about those acounts....i think ...*astouned* :P

I generally look at the responses and the discussions that the person who has requested friendship has particiapted in before accepting them. If I like someone, and I find that the persons tastes are similar to mine, or I find that the discussions and responses are good, then I sometimes request friendship from that person. I make it a point to check the persons profile.

I just don't think about it. I should but don't because it really doesn't matter to me.

I usually approve all of the people who request to be my friend. After all i don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or anything. I do reply to my friends discussions, and i feel that my friends should reply to mine. So i give my friends about a week, and if they don't reply to any of my discussions at all, then i have to delete them. I know that it may sound mean, but it's not really. And i don't try to be. But what good is having a friend on mylot, if they don't help you out on your discussions?
