What would you recommend being the best way to keep your cholestoral at an even healthy rate without having to rely on medication?

I can only suggest what has worked in our home: good old oat meal, grapefruit pectin powder, avocado, what you are looking for is soluble and insoluble fibre...good luck.

Pectin is the natural substance found in fruit that causes the fruit juice to gel. Some fruit have more pectin than others. Think cranberries, it has a lot of pectin. You can find commercial pectin in the grocery stores, it's used for making jams and jellies. At some point someone figured that the pectin derived from grapefruit was effective in treating high cholesterol. We use the powdered form, I think they also have it in pills. Hope this helps.

Eating lots of fruits and vegetables, and dietary fiber. Those are key for bringing down your cholestoral. Plus eat things high in good cholestoral like nuts, and peanut butter. If you have high choloestoral and are looking to treat it without medication then I would suggest making an appointment with a nutritionist as they can help you design a diet that will lower your cholestrol. Also you want to keep your family physician in the loop just in case you have to be on medication.

I'd say the best way of keeping your cholesterol-levels in check would be eating healthy and excersise more. More fish and chicken, less red meat. eat more vegetables. No saturated fats - have virgin oils instead. get enough healthy omega 3 and 6.
