Are we turning into our mothers?

There are some things that we swear we'd never do if we become mothers. However, to our appalling realization, we do the exact things we said we'd never do to our children! In my case, it's being too overprotective at times and limiting my 17 month old's movements. And to think that I still have a long way to go! What will happen when my son enters school, becomes a teen, starts dating....the list goes on! What about you? Are there things that you're doing that you swore before not to do once you become mothers? Are we becoming like our mothers?

Pfft HA there is NO WAY IN HELL I could, would or have become anything like my mother! In fact the only parenting skills I learned from her was how NOT to be a mother/parent LOL seriously....

I definitely think that in some approximation, we all become our mothers. Physically, I'm nothing like my mother, I'm most emphatically more like my Dad (pot belly et al LOL), but when I open my mouth to speak to my kids, there's Mom, belting out from my own gaping maw ROFLMAO!!! Funny thing is, is when that happens, it's nowhere near as devastating as when I was a teenager, contemplating what I would be like as a mother. In fact, it's rather comforting to know that some of the things I was 'subjected' to as a child works just as well (if not better) on my own kids!!!

I'm not really turning into my mother b/c our personalities are so different. I'm a lot more easygoing than her. She gets flustered very easily and can't handle a lot. I get flustered sometimes but not like she does at all. I think I'm more like my dad to tell you the truth. It takes quite a bit to make me mad but when you do I'm really mad.

I don't have any bad habbit like smoking etc. so I don't have any problem. But yes sometimes it can happen that we cannot follow our resolution. As far as being protective is concerned I am quiet practical till now. I am protective now but hopefully I will be ok later.

I think I am, even worse I looked at a picture of her at my age-we look like twins-yikes! I actually parent like her, I used to call her a big hippy and that's become my new nickname amongst family and friends. I'm pretty relaxed about a lot of things like her too, kids get dirty, kids eat when they are hungry, etc. I think the only thing I swore off is that I wouldn't wear elastic waisted jeans, I still won't do that! I do want to get more involved with my son when he gets older, like encourage him to do more things, I think that's the only thing I wished that my mother would do.

We pretty much do what mom used to do, don't we? And it's not so bad at all....
