I am in a rut and need your help, guys! What is your favorite dish to serve on Sundays with the family all gathered together at the table? Is it Chicken, Beef, Pork? how do you like to have it prepared? meatloaf, stew, with dumplings, casserole? What do you serve it with? how often do you make it? if it is an unusual dish, how do you make it?

I like roast potatoes with roast marrow, parsnips, carrots, cabbage and a nice tasty gravy served with nut roast and bread sauce. Here is a recipe for vegan roast if you are interested http://www.recipesforvegans.co.uk/veganroast.html

thank you for the link, very much! as we are not vegetarian/vegan but do observe many fasts and meatless days in the practice of our religion - this link will be most helpful. oh yay! I will definitely be considering making this "meat"loaf.

That sounds excellent I will have to try that some time,I am not a real big meat eater so I usually make meat for everyone else and stick to veggies.

It sounds like you are in the cooking rut here is what you do make up a big pot of brown beans, some fried potatoes with onion and some cornbread a perfect Sunday meal and the older generation will be like remember when and there is no need to fuss it is just another day don't stress about it if they only come because of a big fancy meal then they aren't there for the right reason.

My favorite sunday dinners are veggie (mushroom, squash) ravioli, gnocchi (italian pasta dumplings), pizza, and bean stews served with focaccia bread and salad.

for special sunday dinner i can prepare riblets in bbq sauce . . . i'll just have the riblets marinated w/ soy sauce , sesame oil , chopped garlic , little brown sugar & pepper overnite then slow cooking in the nonstick pan w/ cover til meat is tender and sauce is not so watery - add little bbq sauce & taste to desired flavor & continue cooking in the pan without cover for few minutes as to thicken the sauce then add chopped white onios before serving. this is great with garlic rice & mixed vegetable for side dish !

This is my favorite Sunday dinner: roasted chicken with mushroom gravy, baked potatoes and corn kernels. We also match this with lettuce, tomato, orange and thousand island salad dressing.

i do a roasted chicken because it makes for good leftovers throughout the week. preheat your oven to 400 F and wash your defrosted chicken. pat dry and then rub with butter or olive oil. sprinkle with salt and pepper (inside and out) and then stuff it with either a sliced onion, sliced lemon, herbs, etc. and roast for 10 minutes per pound, plus 15 minutes for the bones. one chicken will feed about 3-4 people, depending on how many sides. This recipe gives you chicken with crispy skin, and you can use the drippings to make gravy (just run it through a seperator and mix with some cornstarch). you can save the bones to make chicken stock for soup, too! just throw them in the freezer until you have enough or need it.
