Will Wyoming lose 1/3 of their doctors?

It seems that due to the high cost of malpractice insurance, unusually high patient loads, and the remote and isolated environment...that 1/3 of all doctors in Wyoming are planning to relocate. Wow! That would be devastating! Anybody from Wyoming know about this problem? What would you do?

I have read this on many states. We do not have this problem in my state, because our govenor did put a cap on the limit on each malpractice suit. Very few are even taken to court here. The Drs. and the lawyers worked together here so there would be less suits. However, we also do not have the BEST medical care either.

That sounds a rather dramatic number of doctors wanting to change where they live .. whatever is it about Wyoming that's causinf such a restlessness .. or is it happening in other States too .. Sounds very similar to our (UK) dentist problem here .. they are fed up with not getting paid enough by the goverment to treat NHS (National Health Service) patients and are moving into private practice as they can earn heaps more ..

Well, right now in our country, everthing is private practice and many feel that is why health care is so high...what with malpractice insurance and people suing right and left for silly things.

It is happening in alot of places. Some courts are trying to put a cap on damamges won so that doctors are not too compromised. We are needing to take care of more of our own conditions. Would be much better if we had National Healthcare. Perhaps we should be making more calls and writing letters and emailing those in power to make such healthcare possible. Will have to see what eventually happens.

I am not from Wyoming but this is a growing problem nationwide. Kentucky is having the same problem. Doctors want a cap put on how much a family can sue for, insurance companies are passing the cost of 'won lawsuits' on to the doctors who pay the premiums, the doctors pass the increase in premiums on to patients via higher charges...it has to end somewhere!!

I am not from Wyoming but the high cost of malpractice insurance is hurting the health field in West Virginia too. Why do people insist on sueing others for no reason. If law suit abuse were stoped, this wouldnt be a problem.
