In an effort to save the environment the slogan 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle' has been often used in campagins. Recycling has its limitations. I feel there should be more 'Reducing' and 'Reusing'. I feel people should reuse as much as they can even if it means swapping stuff with others. Lets discuss the things that can be reused. I normally reuse bottles, plastice containers , cardboard boxes etc. Are there any other things or other ways one can reuse stuff?

Books were mentioned and I agree 100%!! My hubby also reuses corrugated boxes. When I ship something out that can't fit in a bubble-mailer, it's always shipped in a box that we have either picked up at the local WalMart (we ask them for small boxes that their merchandise comes in) and when we get larger boxes, we cut them up to use as extra protection around the items we ship from my online shop or on Ebay sales. All corrugated and shipping materials are saved to be re-used. I also re-use plastic bottles and my sons bring used Poland spring bottles to their baseball games filled with Gatoraid or water. All of our old clothes are either donated or sold at yard sales and I've even reused yarn in a sweater to mix in to help make a scarf. I'll also recycle (or upcycle, if you will) beach glass that we find on the beach. I use it in my jewelry creations as often as possible. If it isn't jewelry quality, I collect it until I have enough to fill a empty jar, add a little lavender oil and they make pretty decorations/suncatchers. We try our best to reduce, reuse and recycle and since that is a popular Bob the Builder saying, it's making it easier to teach our sons the importance of doing it too!

I think we should reuse books! I always give books away, or donate them to libraries and charities. I also like to buy used books over new books in a lot of cases because that way I know it's really getting used. I'm trying to figure out a way now to reuse my DVD's when the next technology wave sweeps through and they become useless. I'm thinking about building a discoteque with them. :)
