Can you answer this riddle?

My friend told me a riddle and I cant figure out the answer. Can You?
There are 4 ants
The 1st one says there are 3 ants behind him
The 2nd one says there are 2 ants behind him
The 3rd one says there is 1 ant behind him
The 4th and says there are 4 behind him.
How is this possible?

Is it possible that they are walking in a circle?
That is the only thing I can think of.
Will you let me know the answer when your friend tells you?

They cant be in a circle because its only 4 ants. and if there are 4 ants, its sorta weird that the 4th one says there are 4 ants behind him. thats what confuses me. but yes i have another riddle.
take off the outside
cook the inside
eat the outisde
throw away the inside
what am i?

Yeah Ur right! I found out from my friend. It got me sooo mad....wow....what a bad answer...I was expecting something like the mirror or something. Didn't you??
