Research in UK has revealed that 30% of Brits are positively influenced to get fit, eat healthily and lose weight by programmes such as Jamie's School Dinners, You Are What You Eat, Honey We're Killing the Kids and Celebrity Fit Club. I like to watch The Biggest Loser on sky TV as I find this helps me with my diet. Has any TV programmes influenced you to get healthy or alter your lifestyle in any way?

My g/f and I watch a number of health-related shows going into many issues and has had us looking at aspects of our lives that need to be changed. We take a little info from each show if we believe it will help us.

Not one little bit .. and that's mainly because they all set so much importance on having to exercise .. I once wrote to one of the TV programmes and asked them for advice on how to lose weight when I couldn't exercise .. All the advice they offered was to see a doctor and get some pills ... gee thanks !! The day someone starts a health plan for folks who can't exercise I'll be first at the door ...

No, I can't say that any TV program had a great influence on me to change lifestyle, etc. I guess my health and life change decisions has came more from reading not TV.

The programme which has made me think about what I eat the most was bbc 1's 'The Truth About Food'. Some of the stuff they showed on there was amazing, for example, the fact that tomatoes can stop you from getting sunburnt. At one point I was considering doing a detox but after seeing what the show had to say about it (basically they don't work) I decided not to. I hope they do another series.

I enjoyed watching You are what you eat on Channel 4. It was with Gillian McKeith, That made me look at and think about my diet, so I have made a few changes for the better in the way I eat. Jamies Dinners was also good for makeing you think more about the food I eat.

I like to watch these occasionally, it makes me realise that the diet my kids eat is pretty good and chears me up, even though I'm overweight I know my kids aren't and are healthy and happy. I tried the Your are wahat you eat way last year when my diet from the DR got stuck and made myself really poorly. I got to the stage where I obsessed about everything I ate and my blood pressure was affected by the stress of it and I didn't loose weight. The programme and the books are fantastic, but I think it may have been too far for me.
