While doing some research online about chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromialgia, I came across an interesting site promoting a product. The site states that Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS) affects an estimated 800,000 people. Estimates indicate between 60-85% of the cases of CFS diagnosed are for women. FMS, affects over 5 million Americans, with over 87% being women. Anyway, the site sells a pill called Activive, that they say will cure the symptoms of both illness and give you back your energy plus some. Have any of you tried a pill like this for your symptoms? Would you? Do you take anything that helps? I have been searching for something that will help, and as of yet haven't found anything. Here is the site, it you'd like to check it out. http://www.micronutra.com/activive.html?kbid=1219&sub=156737_[energy]%20%20%20%20%20%20_

I have fibromyagia and have suffered for years with pain in and around my joints. Then I found Mannatech's Ambrotose and I don't have any pain as long as I stay on the product. It isn't a cure but it sure helps. You can go to the Mannatech.com site or get it through your health food store. I don't know if it will help you but it sure helped me. It does take about a month before you will see good results so don't expect to take 1 pill or a few measures of powder and be instantly cured. It takes time but it is worth it....at least for me.

Thanks vicar. I apprciate the website and information. I am going to check it out. I am aware that it will take time before anything will build up in my body to work. I know a lot of people expect instant results though. I am grateful for the info.

I know what you mean. I just get so worn out so easily these days. It seems like there is no energy left in me at all. I just want something that will help. Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it.

i worry about taking too many pills. i take enough as it is. you wonder why so many people have to take all kinds of pills these days just to get through a day. what did they do in the 1900's..? i would rather take vitamins or try and eat the right foods.

I agree and that's what I am trying to avoid, is more medications. These are an all natural supplement. Thanks for your response.

I was told on time that I had CFIDS by a physician and happened to be going to an Osteopath at the time who also gave me some blood tests and found out I had nothing more than a vitamin B deficiency. He gave me shots for a while and then suggested sublingual vitamins since they would be absorbed easier than pills.

I been on B vitamins for a while. I think for me personally it does a little bit of good, but not enough for me to be able to function to the capacity I should. I have also tried extra iron, since I am iron deficient. I am glad your fatigue cleared up with the shots. That's wonderful. Thank you for responding.

I went to their web site, don't know that I believe them, but I sent an inquiry about their product being corn free.

I didn't notice that part. What effect does corn free have? I am just now looking into alternative therapies for CFS and FM. I would appreciate any knowledge you can share. Thanks a bunch.

I've never taken that particular product but I've tried a herbal remedy that contained aloe vera and glucosamine. It didn't help ME much but we are all different and it might be worth trying. My Doctor prescribed vitamin, mineral, iron and calcium supplements and they did help but I combined it with a 'pacing' technique so am not sure how much relief was from the pills and how much from the regime. One piece of advice my Doctor did give me was, not to try and carry on as normal when you have a virus like colds and flu. They think that's why it affects women more than men and it's often Mothers who suffer most. (You can't really give in to illness when there's a family to look after, can you? lol)

I am always tired. But, it can be a number of reasons. I have not tried that product, and doubt that I would. If a person takes too many meds, they have other problems. I am in pain daily, and I just deal with it.

That is interesting. I would love to find something that helped with my fibromyalgia.

As well as working full time I care for my wife who has suffered with Chronic Fatigue for 7 years, since she was 22. We have tried all types of pills and approaches and we are now more cautious about what we try as I think there are lots of companies just keen to exploit people with this condition. The fact is Chronic Fatigue effects people in different ways and to differing degrees(although there are a core set of symptoms) As such some treatment works better for some people than others. The best type of treatment I have heard is simply something called "Pacing" where people try and build up the activity that they do over a period of days/weeks/months and even years and then uild gradually on this.
