Being someones friend and Manager is hard for me.

I worked my way up in the company and used to work beside alot of people that I used to be equal to and now I am the man. I try to be cool and be like my old self, but my job is to get thinks done and safely. Sometimes I feel they are no longer on my side. I hate being a manager when it comes to old co-workers what do I do about that?

Yes that is really a difficult position to be in. How do you tell your friends to do something without sounding to bossy? Not sure there is an answer to that. Except trying to do it in a 'friendly' tone as opposed to a bossy one. Ok, I know that's not the best advice, but the best I can do.

I am a female manager and have an equally hard time with the line between boss/friend. I'm sorry to tell you that about the only way my problem was resolved is over time as my friends left the company for other prospects. That is a crummy answer and I know there are better ways but it was extremely difficult for me.
