The Easter Bunny

I was asked this question by a child once, just wondering if anyone had any clever answers.
Why does the Easter Bunny carry eggs? Rabbits dont lay eggs.

I can always find good answers to my son's questions.
My simple answer for it would be if my son asked it: Because it is not a simple rabbit.
