Impulsive/compulsive beahvior/traits

I've been sober & clean for almost 16 years now. But being an addict/alcoholic I notice that I have very strong impulsive/compulsive behaviors & traits. I wanted to try & get a very strong & interesting topic going here about our impulsive/compulsive behaviors. I quit smoking almost a month ago & with smoking comes many impulsive actions. After any food consumption,even a candy bar, I'd have to have a smoke. I sat at my computer, I'd have to smoke. When I drove I smoked even more. In a 3 hour trip to my parents I'd smoke nearly a pack. One after another. But realize that as a smoker I smoked 2 to 3 packs a day so that was reasonable to do for me. Especially when I was bored I'd smoke like a chimney. TV viewing has its impulsive actions from me also. As I held the remote when a commercial came on I'd change the channel going all over the sattelite for a show with no ads. Or I'd go through the guide seeing what I'm not watching. HAHAHA.
Now compulsive behaviors I have... MyLot is one example of this. Until I got the link from my daughter & joined my compulsion online was playing Texas No Limit poker. So that obsession changed to myLot. LOL. Another was before dad moved in with me I had a compulsion of rearranging the furniture weekly at the most. It drove my kids & wife nuts. They'd come home from school or work & the house was different. I don't know why I did this I just did. Then painting. I'd start to paint just a little to touch up scuff marks or scratches from the furniture agaisnt the walls & I'd sit up all night repainting the whole place. Coffee drinking is also a compulsive behavior I have. I can go without coffee if I choose to but if I have that 1st cup in the morning I go non-stop most the day. It also has to do with me being an alcoholic and switching my drinks of choice I feel. Another action is my garden/yard now that I'm a home owner. Once I start in the early spring I can't seem to stop cleaning the yard or planting things. My wife loves this though.
Well that's all I have to say for now about this topic. I'm sure after a few replies I'll add more of my impulsive/compulsive behaviors here. Thanks. Enjoy yourself here on myLot. LOL. I sure do.

Im compulsive because i count my posts and gets frustrated if the number of my counted posts has changed.. hahaha....well i think im only doing this you know, because i have a target goal to keep and i do want to earn from this as soon as I can...and besides this is the only thing that i can do at home that will get me to earn something, specially now that im pregnant and unemployed since i cant work cuz im having occasional abdominal pains every once in a while and that would really tick my boss off if i insist on working and be absent every other day dont ya think? =) so to sum it all- desperation for money here at myLot- can lead to compulsion indeed... =)

Anytime at all for a good myLot friend.
You have a wonderful day also hear? I keep a pad of paper at my desk to keep track of posts I need to respond to,posts I've started just recently etc. Helps out a lot. You should see how cluttered my desk is with all these scraps of paper. I told my wife if she toosed one piece away I'd leave her & take my puter with. HAHAHAHA!

My hubby celebrated 22 years of sobriety yesterday, Grandpa Bob! As far as things he feels he "must" do are having coffee every morning (I do, too!) and having dessert every single day. It is his treat, I suppose.
Speaking for myself, I have to do my online catching-up every day. It is a "necessity" for me to visit all of my peeps on all of my sites, or I just don't feel right!
As far as MyLot goes, I've had a hard time keeping up with the discussions of my friends. I hope no one gets offended, but I'm trying!

Tell your hubby "GRATS" from me on the achievement also. I feel most myLotters have a hard time keeping up with their friends discussions. I sure do. And I only have 75 or so friends. I try hard. Takes me a few days usually to get to all their pages. I usually respond to 1 sometimes more if they really stand out. Thanks again for a response.

Sober i agree with but clean for 16 years nope you stink. Yeah thanks dad i think i may have inherited this trait to lol. I tend to focus on one thing to much like mylot lol. Thankfully i stayed away from smoking. And just so you know we just laughed at you when you moved the furniture around. Oh yeah and i do this too lol. Ask ty he came home from school and his room was changed around.

See? I've been telling you for many many years girl that you're just like me. You've got all my traits. I must also say that you've inherited your good looks & beauty from my side of the family not moms. HAHAHA. The dark skin & the beautiful eyes all are from me girl. Live with it as this family is all HOTTIES!!! LOL. Love ya girl. Tell the grandsons we said HI and miss them dearly.

I have suffered from depression for decades, and find that people like ourselves have a disorganised manner that we try to counter by straightening things about us. I, in particular, am fastidious in the kitchen cupboard arena. Soup cans all together, follwed by other tinned stuff in a liquid (baked beans, then plum tomatoes), etc. If a saltt shaker is misplaced, it drives me mad. Personally, I pity my partner, as she has to learn what I feel is an inherently obvious order. Good luck, and congratulations on your 16 years sobriety.

Oh my gawwd. I totally forgot about the litchen cupboard. It's really not an impulsive/compulsive behavior. Wait I think it is. Thanks for the reply also.Thanks for the grats too. Only by the grace of God was it possible. I'll have 16 yrs on April 6th. WOOO HOOOO!!!!!
