How hard is it to do one's own roof top? We need new roofing and I was wondering if anybody has had any expeirence with this. I called around to see how much it was to have some one come out and to it for me but it's very expensive. So is it really all that hard?

It depends on what kind of roof you have. However, go price shingles andtar paper, and see how much they wouldcost. My neighbour just paid $3000 to have his half of the roof done and it looks terrible and took a week because he hired the cheapest company. I would save the money and time and hire a company. just figure out theprice of parts and doublethat and that is about what it should cost.

My husband is a jack of all trades so to speak, he used to build custom homes before settling on his current line of work. He and I together put a roof on our house it was the hardest thing ever! And because we weren't professionals who did it everyday it took a very long time. Then to top it all off our insurance company put a clause in our policy because we didn't have a licensed contractor preform the work and have it inpsected by the city/county that they would not pay for any damage relating to the roof. This meant if we had a really heavy snow or bad hail storm that severly damaged our roof they wouldn't pay. So you might want to check into that also before starting the work. Because
