The computer I just upgraded to has an onboard sound card which does not do everything that I need it to do and I have a Sound Blaster Audigy which does do what I need it to do but it wont work I have installed and upgraded all the proper drivers but it still keeps giving me this error message says "Direct Sound Output v2.46 (d) error Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration. Error Code: 88780078" I re-checked all my drivers and the system says that everything is working fine but I still get this error I went looking for help and I was told that I have to remove or disable the original sound card in order for the Sound Blaster Audigy to work I have tried several things to fix this problem but I cant seem to disable or turn off the onboard sound card and so I still have no sound and I keep getting errors with everything I have tried so far Does anybody have any suggestions?

Try to go BIOS setup.. usually before booting, you press delete. then look for the sound, disable ONBOARD, enable the PCI.. then try reinstalling. i hope it will work

Try installing new DirectX drivers from Microsoft.com.The current version suited for XP will be Directx 9.0c
