Anyone use Freecycle or Cheapcycle in your area? I know many of you like to find great ways to recycle and who doesn't like free and cheap stuff!!?? I was introduced to this YAHOO group several months back. It is fantastic! There are many all over...you can search YAHOO GROUPS to see if there is one in your area. Freecycle is a part of the national nonprofit Freecycle Network. Thepurpose is to keep usable items out of landfills, and they achieve this goal by offering items on the Freecycle Network. Cheapcycle is like a garage sale or classifieds for the internet in your surrounding area. I just got a vaccum cleaner on freecycle today. Went and picked it up from this lady since mine broke. It is in NEAR PERFECT condition. :) I have given a lot of stuff away, too that would normally go to the trash. It feels good to help others and it's great to get help when you need something like me and the vaccum. :)

I've been with Freecylce for a while now. I've gotten some great things off it. Things like new living room furniture with a sleeper sofa, a lift chair, a tile top dining room table in almost new condition, a china hutch, along with some every day items we have needed. I've seen everything go up there at one time or another. It really proves the old adage of one man's junk is another man's treasure. I hadn't heard of cheapcycle but I'm going to look into it. Do they have a main web page like freecycle does?

I LOVE my local freecycle!! It is a great way to get rid of the stuff you don't want anymore, and even better to get things you need. I gets lots of my kids clothes from freecycle...and give away the clothes that they have outgrown. I don't know what I would do without freecycle!!

There is no freecycle in my area so I joined a couple in a neighboring countys. I have given away alot of good stuff and I got a wonderful sewing machine. My daughter is a member of one in South Carolina where she lives and she has given away alot of good stuff including a futon that we did not have room to bring back to WV with us. She even gave away a few of my dwarf bunnies. WE took them down there and the people met her to pick them up. WE breed them and just had more than we could sell so we gave some away.

I'm an avid Freecycler. I moderate on two groups in my area and always check the freecyle postings before I make a major purchase. I've received some amazing stuff, and given away a ton of items in return. I currently have a twin bed and some of my kids' outgrown clothes sitting in my sunporch awaiting posting on freecycle. It saves me a trip to goodwill and saves someone else some money. It's all good in my eyes.

I agree with you...i hate going to goodwill at all...i just keep putting it off. It's just a pain for some reason. :) I love it.

I've never heard of Cheapcycle. Is it a new organisation and does it have a website like Freecycle? I founded a Freecycle group for my area a while back, but there are not a lot of people who need stuff that are actually on the internet, unfortunately. I am definitely interested in the Cheapcycle concept, and I think perhaps more people in my area may opt for that. I believe Freecycle.org started a really wonderful program! It's great to be able to recycle stuff like that and save space in landfills etc. Plus you get the added joy that comes from giving! It's really an awesome concept!

I do like our local Freecycle. It's a great way to recycle items I no longer use. Plus, I avoid a fee to pay for the trashman to come and pick it up. I have given away a toddler bed, furniture, baby toys, etc.
