I have started some discussions but I feel they are not good enough. I would like to learn from those of you who are here longer on how you do it. It is so exciting to see so many posts that generated hundreds of responses. Tell me how should I do this? All ideas and suggestions are most welcomed.

The discussions that get the larger responses to them, have more people relating to those topics. To pick discussions I rely on life, also my interests. Then I start a discussion on these and make sure that I start them in the right interest section. If the interest that you have only has 10 people in it then chances are you won't get many reply's as few can relate. I have only had 1 discussion go over 100, but the majority of my discussions do get between 25 and 50 response. I'm good with that. Also I see that your new. A good way to get people looking at your discussions is to have friends, if you haven't already I would start looking for friends, make sure that you reply to a discussion of theirs as they will be more likely to accept your friend request. Welcome to mylot, I wish you much success here. I hope that this helps you. :)

Ah, very interesting is your thought. To go for topics where there is a larger following of people with that interest. How come I did not think of this move. I have tried to get more friends but only 3 so far.

First of all understand that already so much of things have been discussed here. So when you start a new discussion first of all try to find that a similar discussion exists or not, now if it exists look at the way that person has asked the question, and look for the responses, if you feel that it lacks some things rectify it to make it more interesting and ask your question. If it doesn't exist try to frame your question in two or three ways and later think which look more attractive and attention getter, put that one. Best of luck!!

I have done many new discussions and only a fraction turns out many responses. Sometimes the topics that interest us may not be interesting to others. You got to bear with this fact. The main focus is keep on writing and learning. Keep on thinking. Everyday, the news media churns out countless of thought provoking issues. Why don't you write on these?

Your suggestion is good. I will take it and try it. I do not read newspapers a lot. Maybe it is time I do.
