Have you every paid someone to model for you? I was asked to model today (fully clothed and only for half an hour) about 20 minutes from where I live. How much would you pay or expect to be paid for such a request?

I actually am a photographer and a model before so I can say this from much experience.. It depends on what you are modeling for, in my opinion it doesn't matter whether you are butt naked or clothed it all depends on what it is for! For instance, find out what they are using your images for! If it's commercial - like another said.. $150 an hour is expected! At my job we had a model get paid $50 for like the 5 hours we had her and we used 1 image of her for 1 banner we were printing up. No others were used or allowed to be used ever again. And she really should've been paid $150! There's also online modeling which is different entirely but I know of some girls who can get paid hourly for these photographers/webmasters making $1,000-$3,000 a month off of their images online. This is also unfair for the model. Me making websites for girls before always recieved 50% of what I made with less work than I had. It was very fair. As for your situation find out what they are using the image(s) for and if it's commercial don't let them have all of your images to use FOREVER! I would say at least $20-$50 in general.

Thats good to know. I have not modeled yet. I would probably start $50 rate and go up as time go by and I'd make my rate higher if it is for commercial use but if it for school project, say photography student, then I won't request a bigger pay.

once you know the market check with the others in the industry to find out the rate for that market and use it. I am sure there is a model scale for the work you are being asked to do. Private models who do full modeling get upto 300 an hour plus expenses and I am sure that regular store models make much less.

That depends on what you are modeling for and the company? If it is for a class or artist then the pay will be much lower. Companies pay depending on the market and also experience of the model. Some will pay in commodities instead of cash. I would make sure there is a contract and that the use of the pictures is for the reason stated to you.

I think it would be best if it were not about money. Do you want the artist to do the job? Do you care? How about a slice of the selling price? Was this an introductory job, with a view to more adventurous work? There's more to these questions than money. Yes you are beautiful, and might make a very worthwhile model.
