hopefully, open your heart to it. if you cannot provide a home, then humanely keep it safe until animal control comes. they will take it off of your hands, but please....people! Stop hurting these poor animals. They love unconditionally and will come to anyone usually in submission, lick your hand...how can you throw rocks at it or beat it?

i woke up to find my trash turned over and trash laying all over the yard.i was upset until i seen the dog.it was a hunting dog that someone had lost or left.it would not come to me,it would only stand 15 feet away and bark at me.it took two days to get it to let me touch it. then i found some spots on it. someone had thrown hot hot water on it.i tried to docttor the places and it was attached to me at once. we took pictures and posted them.after a week someone called i told them if they wanted it they could have it because no one called for it.we live beside the road and i was afraid it would get hit.i was shopping and told this person i ould go straight home and catch the dog. i got home to find the dog under my steps.he would not come to me, he would not even come for food. then i noticed some blood on the ground. i was gone for 45 minutes and someone shot this poor dog. he was lonely and went for some attention. i found out where the shot came from and call the animal control.they had bad news for me, they said they could do nothing to this guy unless i saw him shot the dog..well he shoots a lot of animals and the reason he gts by with it is because he lures them out back of his house so no one come see..he and his wife threw the hot water on it too. thank god for more kind hearted people....i do not know how they sleep at night...i always do my best to take care of all animals, kids, adults that come to me for help... thanks for the comment...

Such heartless people. Did you know that people who abuse animals more often than not are violent people who are capable of assaulting fellow human beings. Poor dog. He was defenseless.

I first see (from a distance!) if it appears to have any collar or other identification so that I can attempt to find its owner. If not, then I don't do anything, hoping it will leave. I get a LOT Of strays as I live near our animal shelter. People must be ashamed to take their animals there so they get close and abandon them..I guess hoping that they make there way to the shelter? Having a lot of strays around my house causes problems with my own pets. Also, you never know if the strays are carrying diseaases that your own animals can catch! It does me no good to call animal control, they don't show up until like 3 days later! (only one officer for a HUGE geographical area)

i no it is a sad matter.... i love all animals.i have a few now due to strays. most are sweet people just do not want them after they get out of the puppy/kitten stage.so they toss them and get another baby.....it is so sad. i had a cat she had kittens twice. i wanted to let her have one litter and the next one she got outside on me. all kittens was long haired so people took them fast. i still wonder in the back of my mind how many of the people still have those kittens/now cats... i would say maybe half if that.. i did not want to give them away because i did not feel people would get them a good home.i always post flyers, and things to try to find owner collar/tags or not.then i feed them and try to find them a home....i have a lot of fun with them until i find homes for them.i would love to have a animal shelter to run but i would never kill a animal. unless it was dangerous... it does take a long time fdor them to come when called thanks for the comment

I feed it and try to find its owner. I am never harsh to animals. If I cannot find the owner if I can keep it as my pet I keep it. He came to your home because animals can sense if the environment is safe and that they will not be harmed.

That really depends. I say if the dog is really agressive you should just try to keep away from it and wait until it leaves, maybe even call animal control or the police if you feel it may be a real threat. If it doesn't act weird or its seems pretty calm then I say befriend it and try to find its owner. And if it's really cute I say befirend it and don't try to find the owner :)
