I have a friend (lives next door to me) who has several cats. She carries the odor of cats on her clothes. As a matter of fact she washed her winter coat and went out and we still could smell cat on it. We are wondering how can she keep the odor off her clothes and how can she keep a fresh scent in her house.

I have seven cats and have never been told this, I have never even been told my house smells like cats, My cats do not go outside and are very clean and we clean all eight of our litter boxes every day. I do know that out door cats smell bad because even I can smell them and I have a lot of cats.

I never asked her how often she cleans the liter boxes but that might be an issue as well.

If she has a male cat who hasn't been fixed he might be spraying all over the house and that could be causing the odor. She also needs to scoop out her litterboxes at least twice a day to keep the odor down and depending how many cats she has and what type of litter she uses she might need to change and wash the boxes at least twice a week.
I have 5 cats and found that clumping litter works best to keep the odor down and I don't have to change the litterbox as often. I scoop out the boxes at least 2 times a day or more often if needed and totally change and wash the boxes at least one a month. I have 3 litterboxes also so that one doesn't get overflowed and smelly.
I don't know if you have this product where you live but it's called, Nature's Miracle Pet Odor and Stain Removal, I use the one specifically for cats. If you follow the directions it will usually get out the smell of urine but you might have to repeat the process a couple of times.
The last cat I got before I was able to get her spayed she went into heat and decided to urinate on my couch. I used the Nature's Miracle on it but had to repeat the procedure a few times but it did take the smell out.
Hope this helps somewhat.

excellent advise. As far as I know she only has one male cat, I believe the others are female and they are all spayed and neutered. I don't know if we have that stuff, but I will tell her to look for it. Heck I will get it myself if I can.

I have had that problem at times too, as I have cats. We get so used to them that we don't smell the odors. But other people do. So you say to spray yourself down with fabreeze. That is an interesting concept. I am going to tell Louise about this as well.

I have four cats and I go with the Febreze method! Also scooping out the litter box each day.
I keep my coat in the bedroom where the cats aren't allowed, but recently a granddaughter informed me that my coat smelled like lady bugs!! I guess you can't win! It's always gonna be something!!
