Who has ringing in their ears??? I do and it is very loud right now. I hate it. It is driving me insane. I try to keep the tv on as a background noise, but it's not working right now.

That happened to me back in the late '80's for a bit. It started with a few days of "verdigo" and then the ringing started. My doctor asked if I read medical books & I told him "No, they just give you ideas." The, then, roommate's mom was living with us & she did that. He said I had just described classic tinnitus (sp?) & I was pretty much on the young side for it. The ringing only lasted about 10 days, but it was like having church bells clanging in my ears. Now I always have a ringing that is like the "buzz" I get from too much asprin - in fact, it may be a hold over from having taken too much asprin for years before finding a stronger medicine for my pain.

Occasionally I will have a loud ring in my ear. My mother used to say that someone was talking about me when I heard that. LOL I don't know what causes it...but it never lasts for long. And it often happens when the house is too quiet. LOL Hey...maybe the kids are talking about me when that happens! Maybe I DO really have Mommy Radar! LOL

Ok, this one I know. I too have that and it normally is associated with my blood pressure. Normally not a big deal since I tend to be of low blood pressure however I can tell when I ate too much salty foods or am all worked up over something. That is why I go ahead and fuss. It gets it out and I am better. Good luck with this. Drink some water and try to thin out your blood a bit. That should help.

The only cure I can imagine---sleep in silence. With me (living in an apartment complex, surrounded by noisy 20-somethings), there's no way to tell when I'll get silent sleep. But I'm pretty-sure 'more noise' isn't the solution (but maybe a noise-therapist (neurologist, hearing-doctor, whatever) would know better ... my mom's hearing is situated so that she hears her heartbeat, and her therapist/doctor gave her a super-loud chirping-machine to play for half an hour or so while she goes to sleep ...) But what I think you're talking about ... covering your ears makes it louder? What it is, then, is a signal from your brain to your brain. See, your brain is wanting to hear more (which is why SOMETIMES loud music 'covers it up' ... because your brain is too busy processing all the music to worry about 'not hearing enough). I'm told it's what your brain does when you start to 'lose' your hearing ... it's your brain trying to 'make up for' what you're missing. I've seen commercials for an ear-ointment that 'does something about tinnitus.' Maybe it supplies your brain with some chemical that signals that 'everything's alright' & that you don't have to hear more (sort of like the loud, complex music does).
