how do you choose a gift? do you buy it or try to create something in order to give something handmade? if you receive a gift you don't like at all, do you recycle it or keep it anyway? In my opinion, it depends on the person i must give the gift. If it is for my sister or my boyfriend i try to join something bought and something handmade, i.e. a t-shirt and a cake. if the gift is for someone else i always buy something "neutral" just like flowers or something for the kitchen! what is your way of acting in these occasions? what do you do?

I don't pay attention to brand names at all when it comes to buying appliances or electronics. It is more important for me to get a good price for whatever I am going to buy. I do a lot of comparative shopping and I am always looking for the best deal for my dollar. I tend to do a lot of research as well when it comes to purchasing anything that will cost a good amount of money. I know that my main focus is to get the best value for my dollar, hands down. If it is a brand name item, I would want it to be bought outright and not one of these pay it off as you go type things. Whenever I went to buy electronics or appliances for myself or another person I would always look at the price more than anything. I wanted it to be a half decent item, I would not settle for something that was a cheap price and actually was cheaply made as well. The last thing I want is the gift I bought someone to fall apart on them when they're using it. I've had people give me things that they didn't do any research on and those items fell apart before I could get any good use out of it. I really don't like brand names as well because to me, it doesn't matter to me who made the item. It's important to me that these products work and work for quite some time. I'd like them to be quality items as well. I'm not necessarily concerned on who made the item except so I know where I should send it if it needs repair. A brand name doesn't necessarily instill a feeling of comfort to me. It can break down just as easily as a no name product. For example, we just recently bought a cordless phone and we did not even look at the brand name before buying it. It wasn't a real big deal to us at all. We haven't had a problem with it since we began using it. None of the appliances that we have right now really have any problems except the old cordless phone we used to have. The battery is really strange in that one and loses it's charge really quickly, why I don't know. Oh I almost forgot there was another appliance we had issues with as well.. It was indeed a brand name item & we thought we had gotten our moneys worth.. It was a gift as well for Christmas & the person wanted us to pick it out instead of them purchasing something we didn't like for us.. Well it was a blender & when we went to use it.. We we're making a fruit shake & when we we're done making it.. We went to take the pitcher top off of the blender.. And the bottom of it fell right out. We had the fruit shake absolutely everywhere.. We took it back & got a no name blender instead & it works 10 x better than the brand name item we had purchased before hand.. So it just goes to show that no name products work just as good as brand name.. We've found they work even better half of the time! If there was a new technology that had just come out I wouldn't go ahead and just buy it. I would wait a while until the price came down and there had been some reviews written about it. Even then, it would have to be something that I would absolutely need or I would have to be able to afford it. I would not just go buy something for the pure heck of spending money.... I'm not that type of person. When it comes to buying something to try it out first I would not even do that. I would take a trip to my neighborhood electronics store and ask an associate there to show me the exact electronics item or appliance I was thinking of buying. I would try it out there before buying it because I don't want to buy something to try it when I don't even have to do that. I can just go into the store and try it there for free and THEN make up my mind whether or not it's the right product for me. In conclusion, I am not really a brand conscious person. I try more for getting the most for my dollar. I don't really care about who built it or how much it cost to build it.... All I care about is that it functions properly & gets the job done! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

I don't like to give/receive gift in special events. I prefer to give/receive gift qhen there's the real though. Everyday it appens to me to think at one special person. The gift I give her in normal days is better than special gift, for me

Usually when it comes to gifts I will ask the person that I am buying the gift for what they would like to get that year. As they tell me a few different options all I can do is write them out on a piece of paper for later. It's good to do this so I do not forget anything they may suggest. I really think I have a good idea of what one of my loved ones would like. If they cannot come up with any decent gift ideas, you may have to wing it and try to find something that will suit their tastes and make them smile at the same time. My first course of action is to always ask the people what they were looking forward to receiving. If that doesn't yield any results that sound good I would try to think about their interests and what they like. I would either try to get something they would like based on their interests or try to make them something that they would enjoy. I also like giving away customized items when I can get my hands on some. I love giving away these things as gifts because you can add your own messages to something that they might find they like or at least find touching .You could get them a personalized t-shirt with a really interesting design on it. I have even thought about giving away gifts with little messages on them that were customized to each person. I think it's great when I get something that's a personalized item it's special to me because it shows just how much they thought about me. Every once and a while depending on the occasion I will hand make a gift or something like that. For example, during our Valentine's Day celebration we both had a gift we wanted to give each other that was more personal than anything. I remember my other half had gotten me a card and a gift. I had made him something that I was able to keep a secret until he got home. I unveiled it before supper and he gasped in amazement. I had made him a cake with this cake mix we had bought a few days earlier. I put frosting on it and decorated it with cinnamon hearts and chocolates I had left over. He loved it and took slices of it every day that week for lunch. Actually because of it, he bought another cake mix that was just like the one I made for him as of recently because he loved the one I had made for him for Valentines Day so much. I loved that he really appreciated the gesture and what I did for him. I haven't made it yet, but I'm sure I will soon. I like it when my other half comes home every once and a while with a little something extra on top of what he had to pick up for me. I love it because usually he won't say anything about it and then when he gets home...surprise!! I've told him I'm tired of red roses and when he was buying me plants for Valentine's Day he got me completely unique flowers that I had never seen before. It was a welcomed change from the normal flowers or other things he would get me. Usually the gifts people give me I will keep. I haven't really come across a lot of gifts I didn't like that people had given me. I try to appreciate each & every gift I am given because in my opinion it is the thought that counts in thee end. If I find something that isn't my type of thing I will in some ways still try to find a way to make use of it.. Instead of giving it away or selling it or anything along those lines.. I appreciate the thought behind all of the gifts I had received over the years I know that for sure! In conclusion, I believe that the best gifts to get are ones that by far come from the heart. I know I love getting gifts that are given to me that come from someone's heart because it shows me how much they truly care about me. I really love that they take the time to think about me and what I like to receive. I know I do the same for someone I purchase a gift for.. I always put thought behind the gifts I purchase for someone.. I always try to make it more personable so it's about them.. I find it shows how much I truly know the person when I do this & how much I was thinking of them as well! . . Thanks for allowing me to share! xx
