I was just wondering why anti-depressant medication is looked down upon so often?? Sometimes it is the only answer to beginning to get over depression, anxiety etc What are your views?

I think for the most part - that the ones that look down on it are people that haven't experienced real depression and or anxiety!!! But then I am sure there are those who only believe in using homeopathic medications and treatments for it!! And I still think that those of us who experience this and do have a mental illness - we still seem to have a stigma attached to us!!! It's such a shame especially when you are doing all that you can in order to get better!!!

medicines are basically chemicals and all human made chemicals are harmful or addictive. so one should try natural methods like meditations, friendships.

Ignorance. Some people are purely ignorant. Different things work on different people's brain chemistry. and the person cannot help the fact they have to take certain medications. Some are lucky enough to find "natural" cures to beat their depression, but others who are depressed or bipolar, cannot help it at all. The sooner people give up their stigmas, the better all of us will be.
