Hi friends, I am facing a problem with my PC and I hope you can help me. My PC has been affected by Winlogon.exe virus, making the PC crashing and slowing down quite frequently. As suggested by Microsoft I run Window OneCare but it didn't help. I have also run other antivirus/spyware programs like Trend Micro Office Scan Client, Mcafee, Spyware terminator, SpyBot Search & Destroy, but in vain. If anybody has a solution to get rid of this menace, kindly help. Thanks.

winlogon.exe is actually a process that belongs to the Windows login manager. It is a very legitimate process though there still exists a possibility that it is a virus. That would depend on the directory location it executes or runs from. Check out e.g. http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/winlogon for more details. They also provide a free scan at http://www.liutilities.com/products/campaigns/plib/rbplib/?id=fix that helps you to fix the error - if it is indeed a virus and not a legitimate process. Hope this helps.
