unable to get sound along with video in ipod..

i recently tried to upload videos in my ipod (supports video)after converting it into m4v file it was only uploaded and while i tried to play it in ipod the visual was shown but audio was not heard. how can i get audio too?? does ipod only support m4v files??? can movie also be played in ipod???? i m confused... anyone has solution to this problem....
