I use Microsoft XP Professional and I reinstall my operating system once at 3-4 months. I have a antivirus, BitDefender 9 Professional Plus, I don't know if you hear about it, is a Romanian product but is very good. I'm a student and I have free internet and we also have a local network in our campus. The information that is her is incredible, but in all this information are some viruses and if you are not well protected we can easily infect your computer. How about you? How often do you reinstall your operating system?

i just reinstall OS on my pc twice a year. if you have enough protection on your pc it is not necessary to re-install it every 3-4 months. what anti-virus do you use? try AVG pro, it's good and does not eat a lot of recources so it does not slow's down your pc. use deepfreeze, it's a good ghost software utility, it just restores back all your files (including deleted files) depending on your settings.

Now I use BitDefender 10 and I don't have problems with my OS because of the viruses. In the past I used Norton Antivirus. It detected the viruses on my PC but it did only that. It couldn't move or delete them. Now my PC works a little slow but is not because of viruses. I think because it's motherboard and processor are old. I have to change them but I don't have the money. Thank you for responding and take care. ScarFace.

Never. I have no reason to. The only reason I ever would is if my system crashed. Seems like a waste of time otherwise.

I don't reinstall my OP because I like to. I do it because I get viruses and my OP starts to work slower and slower until it crashes. Thank you for responding. Take care, ScarFace.

I like to perform a clean fresh install of Windows at least twice a year, which is a good way to keep the system uncluttered and running well. Of course I would install at any time that a problem developed that justified a fresh start, but this does not happen very often.

I feel that after a few days of using the computer it tends to get slower and slower maybe because of the temporary files are being created. Because of the registry files which are both created and deleted and lot more things. Due to this the computer slows down which I don't like. And after a certain point even deleting the cookies on cleaning up unnecessary files do not help. So at that point I decide to reinstall by operating system by formatting the partition well I have installed the operating system and then reinstalling it. And by doing this get faster PC which is something which I like very much.

I reinstall my OS when I feel it already slower and heavier to load softwares, because I like to install many games and softwares, usually it's about 3-4 months just like you! Then after I reinstall my OS I won't install the applications I don't use anymore to keep it clean and faster.

I don't reinstall the operating system regularly, as long as it's working fine and I'm having no problems I would not consider reinstalling.. I have good antivirus, anti adware/spyware and a firewall this keeps the system clean and protected for a long time..

I dont usually reinstall OS it depends on the condition of the computer. If I have a virus on my computer that is not treatable by my Anti-virus program or my system loads slow and I'm fu**ed up! then thats the right time i will re-format my Computer, and besides you should use to back-up your system I use Norton ghost but first you must have another storage device an external storage I prefer back-up all your files on the external then run norton ghost it is easy than re-formatting bcoz it takes time 3 to 4 hours while on ghost its just 30-45 minutes and your done... cheers. ;-
